Do you have your trim set to an axis or a switch? I fly the original, non-turbo quite a bit and don’t really have any trim issues at all, but I do use an axis on my Warthog for fine control.

The trim is fine. I set the trim, speed settles down for about 5 seconds and then it starts what look like Phugoid oscillations varying as much as 1400 fpm up and down, and nothing is being touched in the cockpit. If this was a real aircraft I would suspect something is going wrong in the vertical stabilizer. Been simming for over 30 years and never had an aircraft behave this way.

I don’t know what to say, other than maybe it’s a bad installation or something? It just seems odd that it is such a popular aircraft that has garnered an awful lot of praise. If it was behaving like that for everybody it would have been universally slated. Personally, I have no steady climb rate issues or anything like that.

But I can understand your frustration, as there is nearly always something acting up for each of us at one time or another. I guess it’s just the nature of very complex pieces of software playing out across a whole variety of configurations. I’m currently battling my rudder and throttle assembly dropping out every time I access an in-flight menu.

I am sure it is a genuine issue, it just does not seem overly common considering this aircraft sold in the 1000s or even tens of thousands.

I mainly fly the Warrior these days but the only issues I ever had with the standard Arrow were related to either state saving or the autopilot. If both those are off I have no idea what it could be.

I won’t call the plane garbage by any stretch. There’s a lot to love about it. But I concur that pitch authority behaves very strangely.  I too get that very uneven pitching moment. Not jerky…but almost a hesitation or dampening that kicks in after the initial pitching movement. It Also seems to exhibit characteristics of neutral static stability which the real plane absolutely dose not. I thought it was just my control settings. I’ve experimented and just can’t get it to behave like the real Arrow. (The normally aspirated Arrow III) I also find it sluggish in roll compared to the real plane as well. I still enjoy flying it in the sim. Just something, perhaps about my setup that makes the control feel off.

When you run the update from JF, do you remove the existing Arrow from the community folder first? What I have been doing is running the update with the original still in the folder. I wonder if this is what could be causing the problem?

How are these updated if you purchased in the marketplace? Automatic?

I bought mine from JF, so they send you and email and you download it from where you purchase it.

I have vertical stability in the plain Arrow unless I adjust the prop levers correctly. It can be dangerous in the Swiss mountains when you need to 'get over'. If I just leave the prop levers forward, it does weird oscillations.

I don't see why they put in 'finer' vertical trim. Already I have to spin the (Saitec/Logietch mult panel) trim wheel about 25 times after take off to get things trimmed. Until I started to use Lorby Axis and Ohs which by default has a dual speed trim routine that kicks in for trim. Turn the wheel fast and the trim changes enormously. Turn in slow and the trim needle (seen in outisde view HUD) barely moves at all as you spin and spin.

I believe I found the problem. This time I deleted the aircraft in the community folder, and then ran the latest update. It said that it was already installed, and did I want to repair it or replace any missing files, I checked OK, and it installed. I test flew it, and now it seems OK.  😃

Good news.

After reading about your problems with it I had to fly it myself and see if I could replicate your experience...flew quite well actually, with none of the trim problems you described.

Just took off for my first flight today in the arrow. Climbing out VS was OK for awhile and then going from 400 fpm to 1300 fpm.  The aircraft is now in my recycle bin.

JF state that you can just install over the previous version. It will overwrite what it needs to. It could be in Bobsk8's case that the Marketplace update didn't correctly "overwrite" some of the existing files.
