SU8 bad stutters on ground

Featured Replies

Started getting the white spinning wheel right after SU8. I get it right after pressing the FLY button on the map set up page.

Tried all of the recommended fixes. The ONLY way I can load the flight without getting the wheel is to set up the flight on the map page, and then WAIT for approximately 2 to 3 minutes before pressing the FLY button. No spinning white loading wheel. 100% repeatable on my system. I found this tip on an older post on the other forum.

Worth a try.

I'm finding SU8 is stuttering every 2 to 3 seconds when taxiing. The white scrolling circle appears in conjunction with the stutters.

It smooths out when airborne.

I have reset my all of my settings but it did not seem to cure it.

I am using the same settings as for SU7 and that was very smooth.

Anyone else seeing this?

For the record I'm seeing a similar issue in VR except for me it's on takeoff with a glass cockpit aircraft.  Performance has diffidently taken a step back from SU7.

Hi Aj.

I'm not having any issues with my controls?

Hi Stu

Nor was I (and others) or so I thought.  For me it was the VR mouse that simply wouldn't respond correctly when I was on the ground.  And I have logged it on the MSFS system as a VR Mouse bug.  It stuttered and lagged, taking as much as 30seconds to move from one side of the instrument panel to the other.  Once in the air, all was good.

Turns out it was nothing to do with the VR mouse.  It was something that SU8 had done to the control bindings - even though they seemed to be working OK.

The link in my case was that, as a lazy flier, I wasn't using my rudder once I was in the air.  And SU8 seems to have added some duplicate binding commands to other bits of the HOTAS kit - in my case relating to the rudder.  So every time I was using the rudder, the sim was basically stalling while it tried to cope with the conflict.  Switching my rudder bar to 'Default' and then tracking down all of the duplcates cleared it.  A number of other users have had similar issues with other bits of their HOTAS setups.

So, yes, it might be something completely different in your case, but it might be a similar clash of commands which isn't stopping your controls from operating but is causing system lags...

For the 15 seconds it would take to switch your main HOTAS items to 'Default' settings might be worth a try, however unlikely.

Similar situation (with variants):
I have 6 cockpit custom cameras mapped to keyboard keys (Num keypad). This setup always worked fine, no stutters whatsoever.

After the SU8 upgrade, pressing any such key makes the whole screen jitter/stutter back and forth between the two views. Looks like a fast, major and 100% reproducible oscillation, with frequency about 5-10 Hz. Switching to the new view requires luck, releasing the key at the “right” instant …
I tried resetting the key bindings, as well as using a completely different (kind, connection) keyboard, Safe Mode, plane but no success.

Thanks,
Giorgio

Are you running the sim windowed or full screen?  I asked because that solved my problem in VR (running the sim full screen).  Still testing though.

Launch msfs and go to options > controls options > keyboard.

In search bar type load custom camera and delete delete 2nd key assignment - save changes.

Full screen, Dillon.

I'll try windowed but for now my work around is to run with dev mode on. this eliminates the stutters.

Hi AJ.

I use the CH Pro yoke and pedals. I will set to default as you suggest just to see.

I have a work around which works for me, to eliminate stutters, and that is to simply run with dev mode on.

If your getting the white circle, something such as an external app , and addon is trying to access the sim. I've notivced my VA's ACARS can cause this if set to read too often.

No. I tested that very deeply. This is for sure an internal Asobo bug (post SU8). I assume it has to do with flight logging, since it goes away as soon as dev mode is enabled.

After more testing I discovered screen size makes no difference.  It's really a bear now in VR, still trying to find that sweet spot.

I've set all controls back to defaults and it still stutters ☹️

Sorry to hear that, but worth a try.  Hope you track it down soon.
