March 6, 20224 yr Is anyone prepared to undertake the Take Off Challenge? The task is to take off from Runway 16 at HEAJ in any plane (not helicopter) of your choice. It’s a wide, tarmac runway, not some little dirt-track jobbie. If anyone manages to get airborne, and clear of the airport, I’d love to know what plane you chose, and how you managed it. PS: Dialling the headwind right up would be cheating. 5950X, RTX3090, 32GB@3600, Samsung Evo NVME 1TB, Warthog HOTAS, MFG Crosswinds, Reverb G2.
March 7, 20224 yr I was able to do it using the X-Cub, full flaps, brakes on to powered up and then release. It was a little tight. I wonder what the runway looks like in real life -- off to Google maps! MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.
March 7, 20224 yr Author Well done that man 😃. I’ll have to give that combo a whirl. Absolutely no chance in the JF PA Turbo IV 😯. 5950X, RTX3090, 32GB@3600, Samsung Evo NVME 1TB, Warthog HOTAS, MFG Crosswinds, Reverb G2.

Thanks to the OP for suggesting that. 32GB DDR4 3200Mhz i7-9700K RTX 3060 12GB GDDR6
March 7, 20224 yr Apparently this "airport" does not exist in the real world. How exactly is it rendered in MFS? Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester

I was looking for a quick hop-to point for getting into the main airport at Cairo, just to test some settings. Live Weather, and daylight led me there. 5950X, RTX3090, 32GB@3600, Samsung Evo NVME 1TB, Warthog HOTAS, MFG Crosswinds, Reverb G2.

Thanks to the OP for suggesting that. You’re all clearly better pilots than me. I’d need a hot air balloon to get out 😂 5950X, RTX3090, 32GB@3600, Samsung Evo NVME 1TB, Warthog HOTAS, MFG Crosswinds, Reverb G2.
March 7, 20224 yr Interesting, because the 820 foot runway is real. Look at it on Google Earth! I took the Shock Ultra, so the runway felt a bit too long. 🙂
March 7, 20224 yr It seems to be a heliport with a short dirt strip of a runway, so those reports about it not existing appear to have been incorrect. March 7, 20224 yr Author I think I’ve got the Shock Ultra kicking about in my hangar somewhere. I’ll give it a try later 🙂 5950X, RTX3090, 32GB@3600, Samsung Evo NVME 1TB, Warthog HOTAS, MFG Crosswinds, Reverb G2.
March 7, 20224 yr Easy in this thing, as you'd expect with a WW1 fighter: If you go to timestamp 4:55 in this footage below, you can see how short a take off roll the most well-recognised WW1 fighter, the Fokker Dr,1, had, where it practically leaps into the air after maybe a 100 foot ground roll. Of course being a triplane, the Dr.1 will inevitably get off the deck quickly, but the Nieuport was a notoriously good climber too, which is why the Germans copied its sesquiplane design characteristics on their own Albatros D.V: Edited March 7, 20224 yr by Chock Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
March 7, 20224 yr The Kitfox works, but then I'm not sure how accurate its STOL abilities are as it lifts off the ground almost by just looking at the joystick! I actually discoverd that strip within the first week off MSFS's launch - easy to get into with a slow plane, very hard to leave!😁 OS: Win11 Home; Mobo: Asus TUF Gaming Z690-Plus WiFi D4; CPU: Intel i5-12400 (Alder Lake) 4.4 GHzRAM: Corsair Vengeance DDR4 64Gb (4x16GB) 3600 MHz; GPU: MSI Radeon RX 5700XT [8GB] SSD: Corsair Force MP510 (for OS); 2x 1TB & 1x 2TB Sabrent Rocket Nvme PCIe 4.0 (one for sim, two for addons)HDD: Seagate 3TB (Data); Seagate 1TB (Programs), ASUS TUF Gaming VG32VQ1B Curved 31.5" monitor, 1440p, 38Mbs ethernet Fulcrum One Yoke, Honeycomb Bravo throttle, Thrustmaster Airbus TCA sidestick & throttle, Logitech Pro pedals, Xbox wireless gamepad (1st gen)

March 7, 20224 yr Looks like a challenge!! Has anyone tried landing at C53 - Lower Loon Creek (USA)?? I managed to get in and out of there in the Kodiak but man, was it close. On the first attempt, I had to overfly the runway because the winds weren't favorable. This included flying in a tight tight valley to get turned around to make an attempt from the other direction. SUPER hard, but very rewarding. Another bonus is that its one of the only small handcrafted airports in the NA World Update.
