March 13, 20224 yr Can we please dump the continuous pop up Google adverts on the AVSIM site? They make using the site extremely irritating especially when trying to respond to user queries when using an iPad. They are totally irrelevant and of no interest to most users. They pop up blocking a users viewing and reading. I know advertising is necessary to pay for the excellent service but there are limits. The previous side adverts and banner ads are still there but the pop up are the worst form of over commercialisation. Please help users and forum managers. March 13, 20224 yr Administrators Are you using an ad blocker? I see no popups and most users with a phone see none if using an ad blocker. March 13, 20224 yr Firefox PC browser, with ABP addon installed. No adds on my computer. Also, all Youtube movies run without interrupting adds. I recently watched It's a Mad Mad Mad World, and Nosferatu. Hours of movies, not a single add. If using Chrome browser, the movies are interrupted constantly with adds. Same thing with Youtube videos, not just movies. Even if the video is monetized, the adds at the front and in the middle that normally would appear, don't. March 13, 20224 yr Commercial Member I don't see why the staff is continually exhorting us to install an Ad Blocker when they have the ability to remove the ads from their site. Luke Kolin I make simFDR, the most advanced flight data recorder for FSX, Prepar3D and X-Plane.

March 13, 20224 yr Adds bring in revenue. Some of the more popular youtube channels make for a much higher standard of living than average for those channels' owners. There are sites that estimate how many $ these creators made last year. Some have made millions when you add up for all their years. Avsim needs income to survive. As for Chrome and Edge, the ABP addons which I tried in those 2 browsers did not block the adds on youtube. The Firebox browser ABP addon blocked them all. Microsoft and Google (who owns Chrome) are money making enterprises. They determine which addons are allowed to be installed. Firefox (owned by Mozilla) believes the internet should be free and that a user's privacy be protected. The author of ABP makes different addons with the same name for many platforms, and in my trials, the Firefox version is stronger medicine. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. March 14, 20224 yr Strangely AVSIM is the only site I frequent where the adds are so completely intrusive as to completely cover your screen. No other web site I read has made me feel the need for an ad blocker. I’ve been on AVSIM for years and this phenomenon just started a few months ago. Causes one to question any need for contributions if such ad revenue is coming in. Vic green
