AIG traffic choosing wrong runway

Featured Replies

Though this is not a new problem across platforms I have noticed it worsen with MSFS Live Weather.

Today Live Weather Metar gave 080/13knots at Bristol (Vatsim also showed the same Metar though I was offline).

AIG traffic (which is brilliant I hasten to add) chose 27 when obviously it was a clear 09 departure. I have noted this behaviour a few times (not always) and wondered if there any settings that might help eradicate it.

301200 - Global + Vector, 303039 - Open LC EU + England, 317055 - Scotland, 325640 - Southampton, 345294 - Wales, 350530 - Ireland, 378458 - Norway, 379681 - Sumburgh, 406229 - Open LC North America, Alaska and Canada, 439617 - Australia SP4, 447800 - NZ North Island, 447804 - NZ South Island

It's not a problem with AIG, but the sim itself. AIG just injects the traffic, the sim handles the rest, except for a couple work arounds.

Been like that since fs9 or X from what I remember lol… maybe even pre fs9 can’t remember if 2002 had AI… been wayyy too long.

Better get used to landing with a tailwind!

Haven't noticed if this happens more often nowadays however. It's more prevalent when wind is light and variable. Or when there's a crosswind that only slightly favours one runway.

I use PF3 for ATC, and also Avilasoft EFB, where I can see approach weather and wind. If I am told to land with a tailwind , I just ask PF3 for the correct runway. Only problem there is every once in awhile, I am landing at the correct runway and AI is taking off on the same runway opposite direction.

Does it control AI traffic? Don’t think I’ve heard of PF3 but I might look into it.

No it does not control AI traffic.

I just landed in Alicante on the more unusual VOR runway 28 and there was an Easyjet Airbus at the hold point having chosen the correct runway. So the problem is "hit and miss". As stated above this is not a new problem across the platforms.

The only thing was that after landing AIG AI traffic disappeared and I had to reconnect it. I think this is problem between AIG TC and MSFS 2020. I read it somewhere. Hopefully there will be a fix as it isn't the first time that's happened.

Set the AIGTC shortcut to win7 compatibility mode, this might prevent any further crashes.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Even in Windows 11?

It worked for me on Windows 10, and I know it worked for many others (no idea if WIN10 or 11). I don't know why exactly this works, but I do not have the AIGTC crash anymore (and I had them twice a flight before that setting).

EDIT: Oh and start with admin rights, too.

Yes I always start with Admin rights. I will give it a try and report back here in a day or two!

Many thanks for the help. This forum is the best one around for sure. With the ever growing gaming fraternity and its Discord this may finish up the only forum left!

I find that starting the sim with Live Weather enabled first, then starting AIG once in the cockpit helps.

Oh and one last tip I saw somewhere else: Don't use the "auto-inject" checkbox, but inject manually (clicking on inject) after the flight has loaded. I always do this anyways, but someone else posted that it was this single change that completely stopped his crashes.
