Ready to Throw in the towel for the summer

Featured Replies

Su9, well what can I say. The frame time is atrocious. Dropped frames all over the place. 3090, i9900KS 5ghz. 4K. 75% of time mainthread limited. Should really be gpu limited.
My main cpu core is around 85% loaded so 15% to spare, so there shouldn’t be any need for stuttering. Yet the amount of dropped frames is unbelievable.

Using trackIR, looking to the left or right = dropped frames.

Turning a fast plane = dropped frames.

This is tested with and without g-sync, the internal Limiter with/without. External lock to 30/40/60 using RTSS.
PG off/on. LOD 100 and 200 tested.
Doesn’t  matter what setting is changed to alleviate the CPU, it drops frames.

I am tempted to just throw the towel in and see what DX12 brings over the summer months and resume in the autumn. The bright nights are almost upon us anyways, plus I’m house hunting, and holidays etc…. Maybe a break and who knows, this thing might stabilise  by the time I’m back. If not, anyone want a second hand sim system ? !!

I may have jumped the gun, I noticed FSrealistic was auto starting, and apparently can cause stuttering. I will test tomorrow and see, but I can’t imagine that is the cause of all the frame drops.

FPS are unchanged on my system. Disable every mod and try again. The linker is your best friend.

I don’t get much sim time in the summer, that’s my motorcycle season, so I’m hoping that when I do get back into it full time come late fall it’ll be that much more advanced in the development stage.

hope you can sort your issue

Yeah give him your credit card details so he can do it on your account.

Give him a break. All he wants is a working sim.

Sometimes the Terrain LOD has to be lowered to under 100 to get smooth fps. Thankfully, I have not had to lower my settings yet.

After each update, change display settings to a preset, save, then go back and customize them again.

You're smart so you probably already did that, but it's fixed a bunch of new bugs I've encountered the past year or so.

Yeah I had it at 100 and it seemed smooth at that in su8, also seems ridiculous to have to run it at that too 💁‍♂️

Will give that a shot tomorrow. Cheers.

Just a thought.

Could it be something corrupted in Windows?

I literally just finished the main sim update then the content manager update. I cleared my community folder prior to updating, jumped in the Cessna and flew for 15 mins. Quit the sim and then restarted my PC. Added my A32NX profile back using addon linker then did the A32NX update. I fired up the sim, loaded her full of gas and took off. Unbelievably smooth. None of my settings were changed or touched by me, everything was as it was prior to SU9. The take off roll was so smooth, not a single stutter which I always had before on the take off roll.

It is so weird people get vastly differing results. My system is by no means cutting edge anymore but I am locked at 30fps with the High profile and a few ultra settings here and there and the sim looks gorgeous and I don't want to jinx myself but performance is very nice with this update.

I really hope you figure it out
