SU9 : framerate drop tests

Recommended Posts

Making the same Rome - Amsterdam flight as yesterday but I lowered the PSXT parked ac settings for Schiphol to 12% = 28 parked ac. Live ac are Enabled,

Curious to see if the framerate can remain 30 after landing ….

Don't worry, this is no "hack" or something, you are just deleting downloadable content. You can always install and use the one from the location you are at, just not all together

If I don't uninstall all 6 photogrammetry packs, but disable in MSFS options photogrammetry disabled.

Do I still need to delete the 6 in the manager or not?

Cause I fly all the time with PG off

This would probably not be necessary, but then again, you wouldn't need those packs either if you don't fly with PG...

Starting to wonder if I have this bug…

Did a flight in A32NX from ESGG to EGSS Stanstead. Flight is about 1:30 using Simbrief flight plan but I spent 30 mins or so on the ground at ESGG setting up the aircraft prior.

Flight was smooth all the way (locked at 30FPS) until getting closer to Stanstead. On the decent, started stuttering a bit, clearly no longer maintaining 30FPS. By the time I was on the deck, probably getting 15FPS or something like that. Not great at all and not what I ever experienced in SU8.

After the flight ended, rebooted PC and loaded back in on the same stand at Stanstead. All settings the same including live weather and AIG etc. now the sim was smooth, back to decent frames.

I subsequently flew the flight in reverse from EGSS to EGSS and FPS was great the entire flight.

Might try repeating the ESGG to EGSS later to see if it again tanks the FPS on approach into Stanstead.

I am using enhanced airport sceneries from flightsim.to at both these airports.

What difference did you here? Only deleted the photogrammetry cities? If yes, did you delete all or only selected ones?

Thanks

Good morning folks, I want to apologize for my post concerning Asobo and Microsoft.

There are folks that are enjoying this sim without all the problems other folks are having, Systems are different even if they have the exact same specs.

I was wrong in assuming that Asobo and Microsoft do not know what they are doing, its obvious that perhaps I don't know what im doing or my updated system needs to be tweaked.

Im not for sure hopefully the update will get fixed, which im sure it will.

But that is no excuse for me saying those things ,and even ranting in a great forum like Avsim, which I also want to apologize to, and the folks here in the forum.

I was wrong and a fool for doing so.

Im positive I will get things running smoothly and I will continue to enjoy the sim.

Thank you......RobertC

Thanks

- Disabled PG Japan, Australia and GOTY

- Both LOD from 200 to 150

- Parked AC in PSXT to max 30 (was 57 for EHAM)

With "after" you mean you re-did the entire flight?

A good point. These situations are not directly comparable, and I have to do more testing. And there might be more than one issue going on here. One could be the issue with photogrammetry leading to degradation of fps on the ground. The other might be degradation of performance over time during the flight. @Noel has described this in depth and also came up with a decent term to describe it. At the moment I can’t remember what his term was unfortunately.

First flight: EDDH-EGLL. Flight time around 1 hr if I recall correctly.

Second flight: EGLL-EGLL. Departed east, overflying the CBD, did a few holding circles over BIG VOR, then ILS approach into 09R with the BIG transition. Flight time around 35 mins.

Also, I guess this is supposed to be a temporary fix until Asobo (hopefully soon) can resolve the issue and release a patch.

Perhaps a silly question; is it not an alternative to switch photogrammetry off in the sim menu rather than uninstall all the photogrammetry cities?

sniper1 turned me on to this possibility last night, and I'm surprised it looks perfectly fine.  As I mentioned I'm never sure what's PG and what isn't, but here's a shot from near YSSY w/ PG off, worldwide, and it's surprisingly fine.  I'm not seeing any changes to mainthread loading with PG off or on, but visually it's pretty decent.  Perhaps when PG improves it will be more apparent what it brings to the mix.

I've always had PG off - I think it looks better from up close/flying low.

Just did my first 1h flight in a stock aircraft after SU9 and im unable to notice a difference in frames. If anythink it runs smoother in SU9 while in the air. I just did set clouds from Ultra to High since this was recommended by many. Clouds still look slightly better then before in SU8 with ultra setting.

I have noticed something, I am also having issues with FPS on the ground. I am using REX Accuseasson, once I removed it (restored to the original), my performance went back to normal to how used to be in pre-SU9.

I've got it tuned pretty good now. TLOD 200, OLOD 200, most settings ultra. Shadows 4096. Asobo live traffic with AIG models. FPS locked at 30. Display 3840x2160.

Get the occasional stutter but mostly smooth. Even got REX weather force working again after they released an update. I find their newest version is the best so far. No abrupt changes in weather. No fps hit.

Using Bijan seasons at the moment.
