May 16, 20224 yr Well guys, as a noob (and thanks for the help form forum members here) i was hesitant about VR and just how "immersive" its supposed to be... well...after i finally got my Oculus Quest 2 to work, myinitial reaction to siting in the ''full sized' flight deck of the A320 was totally mind-blowing... stunning actually... literally spent a few minutes just looking at everything on default settings... simple wonderful... As a member said once, it actually makes you feel high up and enclosed in the real thing... (Ive sat in the real thing and is so close to reality) I tinkered with a few settings in the various programs we have to use (after watching a fair few YouTube videos from great VR guys) and it runs very well indeed... so much so that i changed from the A320 to a small Cessna 152 and flew the same route i did 10 years ago when going for my introduction flight at NZHN.... i recall it was cramped and bumpy and i felt like puking after 10 mins... this made me feel the exact same way... even though i could feel carpet under my feet! 😆 Ended up having to take off the goggles and get back to the real world before.......🤢🤢 Anyway, guys, thanks for all your input and threads to read...certainly making this a super enjoyable exercise that i had my doubts about but am now totally sold... I just have to figure out how to make the display a little crisper....hmmm i9 13900KF @ 5.5Ghz | MoBo MSI PRO Z690-A WiFi | Corsair Vengeance Black RGB RS 64gb DDR4 3200MHz | MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Vanguard SOC 32GB | MP33 Pro 1TB M.2-2280 NVME SSD for OS | Samsung 870 QVO 2.5" 4TB SSD SATA2 | Samsung 990 PRO 2TB | Corsair RM1000X 2021 1300W 80 Plus Gold PSU | Antec Dark Fleet DF700 Flux Gaming Case | Win 11 home | Samsung 65" 4K TV | G512 Keyboard | Razer Basilisk V2 Mouse | WinCtrl URSA MINOR 32 Throttle Metal / 32 PAC Metal | WinCtrl Ursa Minor Sidestick |Velocity One Rudder | MiniCockpit FCU and EFIS | WinCtrl MCDU | Stream Deck XL | Tobii Eye Tracker | Pimax Crystal Light | Doug

You will have to leave VR mode in the sim and enable it again for it to take effect. It will impact performance, obviously....., but it should increase sharpness of the image. May 16, 20224 yr Excellent!!! Hoping VR will continue to grow and improve. For me after many, many years of flight sim, will always use VR - good stuff!! Good luck!!! High end with 5090, VR, 2020 & 2024.
May 16, 20224 yr I agree it’s greeeeeeat got me back into simming having not had the time for it last two years. I know it’s not MSFS but a mate recommended Euro Truck Sim 2 and you can use the beta vr version in Steam , it’s brill , never thought driving down a motorway could be so much fun 👍 3080rtx on a i7 12700k with 32 Gig ddr5. 2gig Ssd Quest 2 Windows 11
May 16, 20224 yr Author Well now, cant wait for the FENIX A320 to arrive... super excited... but now that ive set up the VR im hooked, and i have read that the HP Reverb G2-V2 is better than the Oculus i run while still not breaking the bank... if this was the way to go, would it be a better experience you think? From the info, it seems that the rendering is sharper? i9 13900KF @ 5.5Ghz | MoBo MSI PRO Z690-A WiFi | Corsair Vengeance Black RGB RS 64gb DDR4 3200MHz | MSI GeForce RTX 5090 Vanguard SOC 32GB | MP33 Pro 1TB M.2-2280 NVME SSD for OS | Samsung 870 QVO 2.5" 4TB SSD SATA2 | Samsung 990 PRO 2TB | Corsair RM1000X 2021 1300W 80 Plus Gold PSU | Antec Dark Fleet DF700 Flux Gaming Case | Win 11 home | Samsung 65" 4K TV | G512 Keyboard | Razer Basilisk V2 Mouse | WinCtrl URSA MINOR 32 Throttle Metal / 32 PAC Metal | WinCtrl Ursa Minor Sidestick |Velocity One Rudder | MiniCockpit FCU and EFIS | WinCtrl MCDU | Stream Deck XL | Tobii Eye Tracker | Pimax Crystal Light | Doug

Originally I was going to get the G2 but then the price seemed to double overnight so I could not justify it without being able to try before buying. A mate loaned me a quest for a week and as it worked thought that will do me for now. I understand the FOV may also be less on the G2 but a sharper picture. Quest is great value when you consider it can be used stand alone for other stuff and you don’t even need a pc. I will upgrade some time in the future when the technology gets better. 3080rtx on a i7 12700k with 32 Gig ddr5. 2gig Ssd Quest 2 Windows 11
May 17, 20224 yr I actually had not 1, not 2 but 3 WMR Samsung Odyssey+'s and all of which I bought on sale for I think it was $299 each but before MSFS was released and they where rumours of a third offering by Samsung I sold all of them for a slight profit. But now I am sorry I didn't keep one! May 17, 20224 yr Author Hey guys, I talked about a new headset with the good wifey and to my surprise, she went out and bought me HP VR 3000 Windows Mixed Reality 4K Reverb G2 HMD!! I had a question though... it comes with controllers....but there is the same version just without and its $259 cheaper... so do i really need controllers for MSFS? I don't use the quest ones as use mouse and TCA stuff... those who have the HP any ideas? I guess i can uninstall the Oculus software as wont be needed eh... and just keep the OpenXR tools et? Cheers! May 17, 20224 yr @vonduck Yes, keep the controllers. You should always have at least 1 set of controllers to use for other games/apps that you may use at some point...this is not the only sim out there and you may end up using others such as VTOL VR or DCS (vtol as example lets you fly only needing your vr controllers)...and also, if you ever get the urge to try out some other types of VR games or apps then you will need the controllers. May 18, 20224 yr I love reading these stories about people dipping their toes to VR flying. I still remember very vividly when I got my headset and fired up X-Plane in vr mode for the first time a couple of years ago. Edited May 18, 20224 yr by Kopteeni
May 18, 20224 yr A hot tip is to install the OpenXR toolkit. As a Rift S user, I didn't find the upscaling useful, but the Apperance section and shake reduction setting is. Edited May 18, 20224 yr by andreh
