The developers I need to know about are Toliss, FF, Colimata, SSG etc. ie The airliner people.  I'll just write off my couple of Gizmo planes because I'm not going to have a 'new' version on my system.

Never has so much much flight sim politics been owed to so few.

Some kind of estimate on the topic would require paying more attention to who they are and what they are doing, plus trying to deal with the 50% of people who will inevitably disagree with anything I say about it - I put that time into the 744, very very excited for people to get their hands on a properly working version of that in XP12. Personally I expect to stop doing any XP11 stuff very soon after 12 is in peoples hands.

My guess is quite a few devs will be in need of fresh money when XP12 releases. Better assume for now that every dev which has not stated otherwise will want (or probably rather need) to charge.

Toliss already announced they will offer paid upgrades. Inisim pushing their XP11 products into the market at 10 bucks is quite a clear pointer as well IMO.

And FF? I'd be very surprised if FF won't charge as well. But they will also have a lot of work to do to bring their products up to the year 2022. Plus it looks like they're going to call the A320U finished soon, which makes me wonder what will happen to their most recent bird in XP12. V2? 😄

Laminar Research customer -- Asobo/MS customer -- not an X-Aviation customer - or am I? 😉

Thank you for ruing my day.😀 Doubt I'll bother with it then.

In layman terms, any plugin that depended on the XP11 openAl imports for audio (most C based plugins) will fail with imports not found.

AFAIK the only solution to this is to recompile them with different imports - with the preferred method being to switch to FMOD for everything (Im going that route).

Ugh, I guess this will break FlyWithLua's audio playing capability.

Hopefully, FWL's deveoper is part of Laminar's inner testing circle.

How likely is it that developers will update their planes for free? What generally was the case when XP10 was replaced with XP11?

Rule of thumb: The less complex the product, the more likely it will receive a free update.

Well X-Plane 12 is going to have to be pretty spectacular in order to bring the masses back into the fold. Not sure I'm willing to fork out unless it is. I paid £90 for the Toliss A321 in total and I am not prepared to pay any more. Perhaps some are?  I paid £50 for the Fenix which is better in all respects.

I'll leave it up to the developers to convince me to fork out money for an upgrade.

Sparker is pretty tight-lipped about FWL and XP12.

Hmm , If you mean scenery ? then don't think it will match MFS , but if you mean the Wx / lighting I am sure it will be much better.   in fact these are the only two things I ever cared for XP to have.

miracles - You need to rub the lamp for the genie 😁

Fair enough. But I guess I'm done here unless some sensational revelation comes to light, I am just not prepared to pay again for planes that I have bought to bring them up to 2022 standards. Especially when they are cheaper and better elsewhere.

Enjoy MSFS in the meantime.

Oh I will. But don't worry. Once XP offers better value for money I'll be back.
