Someone tell Bob😉

I was away from my PC so thanks for chiming in, Nyxx. 😉

@Bob: it is the EXACT same information as the METAR data you can see in the EFB but asking for it and receiving a message on the MCDU is just more fun. 😉 It can also be convenient though: i often the the EFB on Navigraph, the left MCDU on the plan and the right MCDU on the AOC menu: this way I can for instance keep the METAR in sight whenever I need it (like entering it into the PERF page or setting QNH) and I won't have to switch apps for that on the EFB. Fun stuff.

i am very pleased with performance on my rather old PC (I7-4770K@4,5 - GTX1080TI FTW3,32GB DDR3-2400)

I can get VSYNC/25HZ pretty much as long as i dont pan fast on the ground like FT KLAS (then it can drop to 21-25 fps but settles very fast again.

This is with 4K@70% mostly Ultra/High settings  , low traffic (10% in menu)

Its really an amazing experience and even more amazing for the buck.

About liveries from second hand -  am using a Spirit one . Can there be FPS penalty on those or is it only VRAM related ?

Thanks

Michael Moe

Ok i got a weird drop at 18 fps just 30 feet above 10L in FB KPDX .

Also about 3- 5 degree ILS offset , strange.

Got a question re: alternate. I've started messing around with secondary flight plans. But what does "MORA" in the OFP refer to?

Minimum Off-Route Altitude - Minimum Altitude 10nm either side of route. Will give you 1000ft clearance or 2000ft in mountainous terrain. Given in 100's of feet so in your example would be 3900ft minimum altitude 10nm either side of the route, EHAM not above 5000ftMSL so that 3900ft will give you 1000ft clearance.

Thanks @abennett!

Another question re: loadsheet. A preliminary is sent first. Then after boarding is completed an updated one is sent automatically? I.e. no need to manually request loadsheet via ACARS?

Afaik loadsheets are always send automatically. You can't request them, like METAR. However, the timing and logic of those loadsheets is not clear to me... Sometimes I only get a preliminary and sometimes I get the definitive one while I am on approach already...? Odd stuff.

Yeah exactly. When the boarding is complete I need the updated loadsheet ASAP in order to punch in the INIT B numbers then PERF.

It’s possible to “resend loadsheet” from the mass&balance section of the EFB…

Just finished today's first flight from EGLL-EGKK. Arrived at Cologne just as the sun was setting. Quite busy in the flight deck from liftoff to touchdown.

My first officer was pretty happy about the flight too.

Yesterdays flight was a bit different though. Arrival into Skiathos after sunset with a landing weight of 63.6 - just 0.9 below the MLW. I took a picture of the arrival perf section of the EFB. Even though I was below MLW, LDR was still longer than LDA. Made it down but with a landing rate of 600fpm... In hindsight it might have been better to enter a hold to burn off some more fuel.

EDIT: Just remembered, I deliberately chose RW19 knowing there was a tailwind, curious to see if I could get her down. Which I did, with lots of runway in front of me when coming to a full stop. It wasn’t the most elegant landing though.

EDIT: It's probably not that appropriate to post this in this thread as it's supposed to be about Fenix and performance. Just having trouble finding a suitable thread to discuss all things Fenix related...

EDIT 3: In terms of performance, it could've been better. Was trying to see how my system handled a TLOD of 200 from start to finish. Didn't have the fps counter on, but it was not a smooth experience. I blame it on complex airports.

That's just to reload it into the EFB. The EFB has no connection in any way with the MCDU.

Did the performance deteriorate during the flight or was it bad from the outset?

Ah, got it. Thanks.

Bad from the start at EGLL until I got away from the London metro area. Then decent until getting quite close to EDDK, then again stutters.
