my performance has improved on the a320 since the last update - although still not close to the PDMG 737.............................
so just wondering what the best way to improve this might be (already tried adjusting the fenix settings in the app - but reading a lot about using a tool like process lasso(which I have) to manage the cores assigned to MSFS and changing things like HT - I am running a i7 6700 (8 cores?) and a 2080ti)...any help appreciated?

thanks  will give some of these a try!

noting what the section on "cores" says about letting MSFS "run free" with the least used core then being assigned to Fenix - guessing process lasso can be switched off (not sure what the default is with this app when I run MSFS and what cores its selecting for Fenix and MSFS) and I can do all this simply  via the task manager?

@Aamir and team, any chance we can get this as a McDoo option? The Maddog has it and I love it.

Thanks!

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

With "run free" I meant to not assign any specific cores to MSFS. Just let the system handle it automatically.

With the Fenix apps, what works best for me is to assign all available cores to them - except the "busiest" core i.e. the core that MSFS uses the most. You have to do some testing to find out which core uses the most, as I described in the performance thread.

Default with Process Lasso is no core assignments for any app. I think Process Lasso is a bit more user-friendly, but sure - you can use the task manager, no problem.

When MSFS boots to the opening scene, if you change Fenix Bootstrapxxxx app to the cores you want or not want all the other app will be on the same as you set Fenix Bootsrtapxxxx to. Once loading in the VC then all you have to do is change the displays app to want you want.

I personly dont like Process Lasso, but thats just me🙂

thanks will give this a try with the fenix - how much improvement (in fps or smoothness) are you typically getting by trying this for the Fenix?

out of interest do you have any particular recommendation (when your not flying the fenix) for things like cores or hyper threading that will generally improve performance of the sim or do you just adopt the "fenix" settings for everything? (note outside of the fenix I generally get good frames until I start adding in large payware airports + panels (such as FIPS that run via spad) which all hit on my frames (especially the running the larger airports with AIG))

by opening scene or VC do you mean start of the flight or menu screen? (assume your doing these tweaks in the task manager?)

Just as I said "MSFS boots to the opening scene" where all menus are.

"Once loading in the VC" once your loaded into the Virtual Cockpit...

Unfortunately I haven't done any before/after testing in terms of performance/fps.

I've set up AIG traffic controller in the same way as the Fenix apps. Other than that, I usually don't have that many apps running when simming. I use my iPad for Navigraph as well as some weather apps. Anyway it's easy with Process Lasso to get an overview of which apps use the CPU. Just sort the list based on "CPU avg".

7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

On my ageing system i7 4790k, 1070 16GB and good ole spinney drive I held off on the initial "I want it now" syndrome on release and saw many posts, this one included talk about performance and recognised maybe my system can't handle it.  It can fly the PMDG 737 pretty well (which suprised me) however after the last update mentioning performance improvements I took the plunge.

I run very moderate settings due to my system @1080P but the picture outside the window is still one of beauty and awe, I have a mixture of off/low/med/high settings after meticulous research on the benefits of each multiple times since MSFS was launched.

So how does it perform?  I did 2 flights last night from EGPH to EGCC (both payware) then a 2nd flight from EGHI to EIDW (both payware) in real time cloudy rainy UK weather with base clouds at 1500ft.  I have max frame rate at 30, I was pleasantly suprised on both flights.  My FPS was between 20 and solid 30 depending on situation, on the ground taxing around is lowest performance and obviously in the air at altitude I was seeing a pegged 30 FPS.  I run the display quality on balanced and the Render displays on GPU (I still need to fiddle with this).  I've seen the thing about selecting integrated graphics but this isn't an option for me in the app and haven't bothered going into the BIOS yet and fiddling (possibly breaking something).

So overall I'm pretty happy - this is a super complex machine on a 7/8 year old PC and to get between 20 and 30 FPS at complex scenery (with AIG AI running I might add albeit at 20%) I'm impressed!

I THINK the update might have solved the issue RE: drop in FPS over time! But will test a little more :). Random question, is anyone experiencing an issue where after rotation the plane logic appears to go to a landing configuration and you get warnings about gear not down etc. (which then eventually corrects itself?). Not sure if I'm doing something wrong but I haven't noticed this before.

I did/do the same. No need for voodoo "performance" fixes, which are a)placebos, b) don't do a thing, or c) (especially in the hands of folks who know very little about PCs) wreck your computer.

Play around with the in-game settings, find a balance between performance and visuals, a balance you can live with, and stop wasting precious time on trying to "optimize" your hardware.

So to be a right pain in the bum (there is 48 pages of thread to sift through after all):

I have a 4K monitor, 6700k @ 4.5Ghz, 16GB ram and a 1080 graphics card.

With sensible settings, will I be able to maintain 30fps with the Fenix or will I be disappointed?

Planning on upgrading possibly later in the year, but the old beast is still doing alright for me with Prear3D v5 and FSLabs at the moment.
