Conection lost 10 times in a 20 min flight?

Featured Replies

Hi all
I am constantly getting connection lost errors and the Bing Data world graphics turning off
I did a short flight from NZMF to NZQA, (about a 20 min flight) and had it disconnected about 10 times.

Anyone else getting these errors?

When I get them the sim keeps rolling but my controls are locked, making landings shall we say somewhat interesting as I got one just before touch down
Please note
My internet is fine

Best wishes

I am not having any issues. Perhaps your system is overloaded ?

Also what are you using to test your internet? The download speed may be fine meaning good Netflix but jitter, packet loss, and latency may all be out the window.

Try this test:  http://www.fusionconnect.com/speed-test-plus

You're not alone. just did NZRO-NZAA and had 2 connection lost popups, Bing data switched to off. Annoying as hell. I have 100mbps internet.

Hi

Thanks for the reply

I tried the test you suggested  (on my laptop which is connected by wireless to the same modem as my flight sim PC however the flight sim PC is via wired connection)

I have decided to give MSFS a rest for the minute turned the PC off.  However the results are:

download 47.57 mbps

Upload 38.99 mbps

latency 3ms

Jitter 3ms

connection line quality is excelent

I guess this is fine?

best wishes

Hi thanks

I guess it makes me feel a little better to know I am not alone.

Out of interest, do you have the updated ORBX NZ mesh?

I ask as I have this and the connection issues started after activating the mesh.

In my mind I cant see a mesh causing a internet disconnect (But what would I know)

Later today I may do a little experiment and turn the mesh off and see if it makes a difference.

Best wishes.

Yes i have the mesh. And this will not cause any connection problems. Mesh is not streamed. It's loaded when you start the sim.

Hi

Thanks for the reply

I did figure that, I guess its just a coincident that my connection issues started at the same time.

Best wishes

I too here in the Eastern USA have been experiencing this issue and I have an extremely fast connection with ethernet cable that is not being interrupted as I can verify with other devices.  And my last two such popup alerts have been followed in less than 5 minutes each with MSFS freezing. Not CTD, just freezes.  Left it alone yesterday for 90 minutes after the freeze and no joy.  And both have occurred just under 2 hours into the flights.  Not sure if that is some cue or clue or not.

Something is amiss and it is not my connection.

Same here with the connection lost popup. Not nearly as often as you did in that 20-minute flight, but it does happen and it seems to happen more frequently in the last few weeks.

From the tips & tricks forum "Do not assume that this is necessarily an Internet problem.  The Rolling Cache may have developed a problem and scenery tiles are not loading as they should.  As a troubleshooting step, delete the Rolling Cache data and turn off the Rolling Cache. If things improve, you can restart the Cache."

You are not alone and I did the clean rolling cache and rebuilt it.  Didn't matter, still have connection loss when I really shouldn't.

Hi Bob, try using this add-on, you can pick whichever map suits. I've used this from it's initial release and have hardly ever had any disconnects. It also gives the option to use the latest Bing maps which are not available in the vanela MSFS. Plus the graphics are much better overall.

Edit: It also start MSFS a lot quicker
