Inibuilds A310 to be released on November 2022 for free!

Recommended Posts

Absolutely amazing news!! It just keeps getting better and better for MSFS. Extremely smart move of a company like MS and its deep pockets to bring in a high fidelity aircraft like the iniBuilds A310, and most probably the first wide-body/long-hauler to the sim in November (unless the PMDG 777 lands first). Sounds like iniBuilds has done a lot of code re-writing so they've probably used MSFS dev/sdk best practices and the "native" way of developing rather than doing a straight port.. I suppose if C++ is involved it will be based on WASM. Either way, a high fidelity short/long hauler airliner included as default aircraft in the sim is amazing.

Perhaps along with Working Title and iniBuilds MS/Asobo will also improve the other default aircrafts, and who knows what other benefits this partnership will produce.

Wowsa, this is a game changer in so many ways.

@abrams_tank's prediction in https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/620182-is-inibuilds-going-all-in-on-msfs/ might be coming true after all :)

The only bad thing about this is that there are almost none A310-300 left in the real world that could be simulated in the sim 😞

Still a good problem to have, and can always simulate historic carrier operations :)

You're right the current list of passenger operators are mostly all in the mideast: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airbus_A310#Operators

I remember a really cool website that offered free airport updates and fixes for P3D v4.

When a customer like me paid for an update to fix an airport that was not available as a free download, they shared the fix with the community. They fixed a lot of broken airports for P3D. Nice people. I'm happy for Inibuilds and wish them lots of success in the future.

Or moving away a developer from XP, which is usually way more effective.

That was my point but I didn't state it as directly as you did haha!

Their overlord has told them to have no other God than Austin, so none of them have dared take a peak.

It's insane what MS is doing. But I'm not sure if inibuilds role would really be to enhance default aircraft.

So iniBuilds really is going all-in for MSFS.  This is a huge win for MSFS!

Man oh man can't also wait for their A380 in MSFS, need to re-read their last update on that: https://forum.inibuilds.com/topic/1152-development-update-9-roadmap-for-2021-and-a-thank-you/ ... Anyone have access to those two screenshots they posted there?

Some noteable quotes from iniBuilds ("MJ" - Ubaid Mussa - CEO, "Gumby", etc) on their discord so far...

If you own a copy of Microsoft Flight Simulator or have an Xbox Game Pass subscription, this airliner will be a part of the Microsoft Flight Simulator 40th Anniversary Standard Edition coming in November of 2022 (you can read more about it in Microsoft Flight Simulator’s Wire post from earlier today)! One of the biggest reasons for our partnership with Microsoft Flight Simulator: the ability to provide high quality aircraft simulations to as many people as possible! This is a fantastic step in our industry, and we can’t wait for you all to get your hands on this aircraft!"

Gumby — Today at 16:33
"Lets put it a bit more into official speak. We appreciate every single customer for their business and support during our product releases for X-Plane 11. These products were for X-Plane 11 and marketed as such. We have no comments on X-Plane 12, aircraft wise, to make currently, and our focus is very much on Microsoft Flight Simulator. We entered this business to provide the best quality add-ons. Entering a long-term relationship with the fantastic team at Microsoft Flight Simulator, allows us to do just that but to a much wider audience in Microsoft Flight Simulator."

So my take on this is that Microsoft is taking a direct shot at XP.  Microsoft knows that the A310 is very popular for XP. By making the A310 free in MSFS, it further entices more XP users to switch over to MSFS.

A lot of XP users probably switched over to MSFS in the last 2 months already, with the release of so many study level airliners.  But I think this is a strategic decision by Jorg to further attract XP users to MSFS. Anyways, this is my two cents (please don’t start an XP vs MSFS flame war in this thread, this is just my opinion when I consider why Jorg specifically chose iniBuild’s A310).

I also think Microsoft has more ambitions with MSFS. If Microsoft can consolidate the consumer market with MSFS, they will go after the commercial market next.  This huge spending and investment by Microsoft into MSFS, such as the money that Microsoft likely paid iniBuilds for their A310, tells me that Microsoft is very, very, likely going to go for the commercial market at some point.

Yeah, feel the same, hard pass for me.  If it was a 350 vs an historical aircraft then I am totally on board.  No talk of their twin commercial turbo prop airliners?, thought MSFS was doing one.
