Not entirely. Mahan Air and Iran Air still fly a fairly sizeable fleet of them with Mahan having a lot more. Kam Air in Afghanistan still fly one. If you like exotic destinations such as Iran and Afghanistan then there are several great freeware options for airports in Iran and one for Kabul. Don't forget cargo airlines such as ULS in Turkey and Royal Jordanian although the latters A310's days are numbered.

Yes, that is the reason why I wrote: "almost none A310-300 left in the real world"

I continue to not understand this line of reasoning... so what? Why do we only want to simulate the flights that are happening in the current day? Why not give ourselves options to simulate them all? The more the merrier. If you want some sort of structure and the ability to find real world flights, that's why I made FS Dispatch. I'm putting the finishing touches on a big database update with lots of early 2000's and late 1990's schedules with plenty of A310 options from around the world. If you don't want to use that, there are tons of old timetables available on the internet in which you can look up flights to do.

But please, I always get so disappointed when I see others write off very well done add-ons just because they are uneconomical and not used in the present day. It's not as if we pay for the virtual Jet-A and maintenance checks, right. Try something new (well, old), and have fun.

My statement rather implied the sadness that all these old (nice) aircraft don't operate in the real world anymore. Even I am in favour of ceasing these aircraft from operation due to the environmental factor, it's still sad to not being able to see them when going for plane spotting at airports.

and btw: stop implying that everyone needs to do what you think, when you write "we only want...", everyone is free to do whatever he or she wants. I personally don't care much anymore, about simulating real world flights, these crazy times has been ended many years ago. For me It's about learning new aircraft and systems. Even if I were sad about the fact that I cannot simulate real world flights in the sim, it's legit, everyone is free doing whatever he wants. Doesn't mean that one doesn't appreaciate a new airliner and asobos generousity 😉

A310 for free? Sweet... It's not exactly the same plane, but my first widebody (and international) flight was in an A300. Also, my first cockpit picture ever was in the same plane (thanks to the AA crew for this). Close enough, I guess...

Now I need to wait for some Aerolíneas Argentinas liveries...

The plane is 90% the same.

Hi.  Since you are a 3rd party developer, you may be in contact or conversation with other 3rd party developers.  Are there other 3rd party developers that made add-ons for X-Plane in the past that think like you do? (there is no need to mention specific names as they probably want to keep this under wraps, but I just want to know the general overall atmosphere and thinking of other 3rd party devs that were once tied to X-Plane)

Hard to say since our chat server are dedicated to MSFS only, but that last move from MS, in my opinion, pretty much sealed the fate of XP. They wont get the top slot of the market anytime soon now (there was a slight chance when MS kept messing up their updates)

While making such "study-level" and iconic aircraft "free 2 play", 3pds can still find, specially if they're selling out of the MarketPlace, that it is worth asking 50+ € for their creations or migrations from other platforms.

I believe the "secret" is for sure the amount of sales they can get out of MFS compared to either P3D or XP. It is not so profitable for those seklling through the MP though because a good share goes into MS / ASOBO.

I wonder if in the future, with the problems that still plague the integration of some products in the MP, MS / ASOBO will make the only way be through MP, with the obligation of pushing outsiders into the platform for future compatibility.

There's no problem for me with such a solution. It is probably a lot easier / smoother to manage from a user pov, but the way MS / ASOBO are driving MFS I believe a lot is changing in the 3pd economics. They have to adapt to the new model and I just hope those who accustomed us to higher level of complexity add-ons will be able to keep in the Party, specially based on the easier sales.

Any news from iniBuilds on the freighter and other variants ? Would be great to fly this in freighter variant.. that's more believable than the PAX variant in 2022..

wouldn't mind paying a small upgrade fee for the other variants too (like a DLC).. they deserve it after all.. top quality devs..

It already looks better modeled than the PMDG.. and on top of that they throw in a cabin, CPDLC, EFB, PAX announcements, weathered cockpit, etc.. sweet.. take notes PMDG..

While I'm eagerly looking forward to this release, I'm not totally sure it's a good idea to have a "study-level" aircraft as a default.  I used to help out in the Zibo forums and the number of repeated simple questions from even experienced but non-airliner simmers is staggering.  I can easily see a backlash from the multitudes claiming that it's a dud because the engines don't start, the autopilot doesn't engage, and a host of similar trivialities that only require (shock, horror!) reading a manual.

I`ve asked them last year and they confirmed that the freighter variant is coming.

I think you can start all the aircraft on the runway and the engines are on by default?  And then there is Ctrl-E which turns on the engines for most of the planes.

Can you not start the PMDG 737 or Fenix A320 off the runway and all the systems are automatically turned on for you?

Probably.  Doesn't stop people trying, failing and then saying "I did everything right but it still doesnt work".

With PMDG, you just need to choose your defaut start up panel state...try "taxi".

Yeah, it's pretty easy to get the engine started in any plane in MSFS 👍
