July 7, 20223 yr Rumors; believe half of what you see and none of what you hear. My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.
July 7, 20223 yr The wattage on those is fairly crazy if true. We're approaching microwave oven and air conditioning unit levels of power usage with the 4090 at 600W. At this rate, the next generation will be over a kilowatt. With energy prices rising - we are back to the days of paying 25 cents to play a game - and having to insert another 25 cents for every additional hour you play. Each four hour flight in MSFS will cost $1 in electricity. Annnnnnnnnd yet I'm still thinking about getting one.

July 8, 20223 yr California now has power usage regulations for computers, will anyone in Cali be able to buy these cards or computers that use them? My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.
July 9, 20223 yr Commercial Member Perhaps you should read the regulations and see what the impact will be. (Hint: they're not just in California, and they affect one specific mode of operation.) Cheers! Luke Kolin I make simFDR, the most advanced flight data recorder for FSX, Prepar3D and X-Plane.

So what would you suggest would be a sensible PSU wattage? 800W? Is the GPU the most demanding device? Ray (Cheshire, England). July 10, 20223 yr I believe modern GPUs are likely to be the most power demanding component. Here is a calculator I use when choosing a PSU, https://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator, Just plug in your devices and it will give you a recommendation I always go 100W beyond recommended for my own comfort. July 10, 20223 yr Moderator @jalbino59, useful utility, thanks. I’m considering a 4000 card for my next system but as it will be professionally built I’ll leave the PSU to the company. I always opt for a gold quality unit. Ray (Cheshire, England).
