Sim Update 10 beta is out!

Not here, AIG live traffic working fine; but I ALWAYS delete the AI "cache" folder created by AIG any time I update the sim. The folder name is aig_traffic-oci-beta_CVT_

Lucky you are.
I have deleted this folder but still get immediate CTD.
I assume I had to delete it before updating the sim. (?)

I'd hold off in favor of a 40xx series.

and I would hold off for the 50xx series, coming already September (2024) 😀

yoke and joke aside, after SU10 beta I am not sure I will ever need another GPU upgrade! running 4K , Nvidia RTX 3090, DX12 & DLSS, most settings HIGH or ULTRA, 38 - 45 fps,  totally smooth in the default citation CJ4 over broken cloud landscape at 5.000 ft, and GPU load as low as 10-20%, i9900K @ 5 GHz CPU around 40%. this is what DX12 was all about: better load distribution. it was the smoothest flight in MSFS I can remember. it always used to be the other way around - GPU load normally 90% even on an RTX 3090, so there is still a lot of headroom for future features, currently an upgrade from an RTX 3090 to 40xx seems totally unnecessary to me. never thought I would ever say that. will test VR and some more demanding environments later today.spacer.png

I've seen a lot of comments here about how DX12 is working smoothly on 3000-series GPUs. Please know that DX12 is also working beautifully on my old 1070 from 2015. Up until yesterday's release of SU10 beta, DX12 was unusable on my system -- a total slideshow. Now I'm getting a steady 30fps at 2K resolution with all settings on High and a couple on Ultra. Also, my main problem prior to SU10 beta was degraded performance on the ground at large, handcrafted airports. This problem has also vanished completely into vastly-improved takeoff and landing performance. The clouds are also spectacular now. The clouds look both more realistic and don't kill performance during turbulent storms like they used to. Also, I love how, even when set to Clear Skies, there's still a hint of upper-level cloud formation, instead of just solid blue. Thus far, I'm extremely impressed and pleased by the SU10 beta.

NOTE: I've read a couple of comments from users who claim their performance has worsened with the SU10 release. Please remember that the sim may have reset some of your graphics settings. It did with me. Check your Render Scale. Mine had always been set to 60 (using 4K). When I first started up SU10, performance was poor. I soon discovered my Render Scale had been reset to 100. Once I restored it to 60, performance was better than ever. So keep this in mind.

Have you not tried DLSS?

DLSS isn't available on a 1070 card (I don't think).

It doesn't show up anywhere to update 😐

Start Xbox App, Microsoft Store, and the Sim... and no update.

Did you install xbox insider from store and joined beta?

just tested DX12 mode using quality DLSS using a 3090 at 4K. Wow. Now this is what vulkan did for XP11. Smooth as butter. Now we have the sim that I was expecting 2 years ago!

couldn't agree with you more. that's why I said: an RTX 3090 will suffice, I don't see any reason for another GPU upgrade to an 40xx series in the near future. never since the release of FS1 have I ever thought I would ever be happy with my hardware and MSFS performance. finally I got every penny of my money's worth on the 9900K and RTX 3090. Jubilate deo! bring on the 40th anniversary edition! Raytracing next? ready when you are!

Hi Folks, just my 2 cents on this beta release after 5-6 hours of testing:

  • Loading time improved by 30-45 s
  • DX12 finally usable and smooth
  • Average framerate slightly improved
  • Stuttering improved
  • DLSS cured TAA shimmering
  • DLSS looks better than TAA overall for me (3440x1440) - the image is sharper and more detailed with minimal impact on gauges (see zoomed screenshots below)
  • Massive amount of VRAM used (12-15 GB) which, along with the decreased stuttering, makes me think that the sim is more capable of scaling now
  • Rock stable for now with all the addons I have - I had a CTD only, resizing the improved VFR map (I read that others experienced that too)
  • ...look forward to real time ray tracing 🙂

If I think DX11 both performs and looks amazing, would there ever be any reason for me to switch to DX12? I'm asking this as a generic question, but since much of this beta talk revolves around DX12, I just wonder what all the hubbub is about. There are many other things on the list that I'm way more exited for. In fact, I can't say that I care at all about DX12 considering how good DX11 looks to me (except the obvious not-related-to-DX issues). Explain to me why I'm wrong.

How do I get a beta code please 🙂

You don't need any code, just leave that field empty 🙂
