Help please...confused about purchasing for PC

Featured Replies

Hi:

I see in the Microsoft Store, MSFS is on sale.  I want to purchase the Premium Deluxe for PC version.

I'm confused though about the "game pass" thing as I don't own and not interested in Xbox stuff nor do I want to pay a monthly subscription to game pass.

I'm confused.

Thanks for clarification.

Just buy the premium deluxe for the 120 or whatever it is.  It's a one time fee and that's it.  Game pass is a subscription yes, it basically allows you to play all the games from Microsoft.

I purchased through the MS Store at the outset of MSFS and I do not pay any subscription.  Believe you have the MS Store and xBox Game Pass confused.  They are two different things.

OK thanks.  But I can't find that option.  Maybe because it's on sale I can't get the no game pass option.

MSFS is for sale in the Microsoft Store, but it's not on sale. The recent posts here on the forum about a sale until the end of July refer to a sale for selected purchases on the in-sim Marketplace, which sells add-ons for MSFS within the program itself. You can't access the in-sim Marketplace without first purchasing MSFS from the Microsoft Store or from Steam.

Controller: Xbox Controller attached to PC via USB.

I may not be saying this correctly, and memory faulty, but I have an Xbox 'gamertag' and had to sign in to an Xbox account after purchase of MSFS thru Steam. But Xbox is just a name, there is no fee and no need to give MSFS you credit card. And I never had an Xbox in my life.

Anyway you won't be charged anything as long as you don't subscribe to the free  trial. And don't give your credit card or paypal account number.

If I sign out of my account in MSFS (upper right corner of MSFS screen), then it asks me to sign in onto my Xbox account.

Never forget your Xbox account name and password. You could lose everything you purchased.

If you do buy an Xbox, make sure your gamertag and password are identical to your PC desktop Xbox account. Because anything you buy from inside MSFS you can move for free to an Xbox console. But only if you originally purchased MSFS itself from Microsoft Store (and not from Steam).

If you buy MSFS thru Steam, then anything you purchase from inside MSFS marketplace is paid thru your Steam wallet and it will not transfer free to an Xbox console.

If you know for sure  you'll never buy an Xbox game console, then I would buy MSFS thru Steam (the Steam update and reinstallation User Interface is streamlined easier to navigate and accomplish).

I typed 'microsoft store' in the windows search box. I see all 3 editions of MSFS on a discount sale there. But I do not see how to purchase them except first buying a $1 gamepass. I don't see how to purchase them alone regular price, and I don't see how to purchase them on the sale price.

(I already own the Steam version for a long time).

So  I went to Steam just now (not logged in). All 3 versions are there, but they are not on sale.

Yes.  That's what I'm seeing too.  Thanks for confirming I'm not going crazy.

They're on sale on steam, they're not on discount.

Big sale at Walmart! All day today!

Going in the store the greeter says, "Welcome to Walmart! We have lots of stuff on sale today! And by the way, everything is at the usual regular price."

Right.  You can purchase MSFS at Steam but not discount.  Thanks.

Microsoft sometimes offers discounts to customers who subscribe to Game Pass.  So the 20% discount you're seeing only applies if you've subscribed to Game Pass.
