Maybe if the poeple who do not see how to buy MSFS at the MS Store would provide screenshots of what they are seeing instead, one could help.

Actually it is even easier, buy it on Steam, avoid all of the confusion and all of the issues that come from buying it from other venues. Problem solved.

That's why I'm confused.  You might not need to buy game pass to buy the sim but according to xbox customer service you need game pass to PLAY it.

No, you do not need a "Gamepass" to own a licence for, or run, MSFS on a PC.

You do need the Xbox "app", free of charge from the Microsoft Store
and you do need "Digital ownership", also from the Microsoft Store.

Huh? Wrong. 

Btw, I have an active Microsoft store and a steam account with hundreds of games. Never had an issue with either. 

Issues with the MS store are 99.99% user error.

I can see where the confusion is coming from for @Dreamflight767 then.  Yes, the XBox app is probably needed for MSFS to run.  Maybe that's what the sales representative told @Dreamflight767 and is causing the confusion?

Installing the XBox app is not the same paying for Gamepass. I have the XBox app, and I also have Gamepass, and I can download Gamepass games on the XBox app.  But if my memory is correct, I was always able to install the XBox app without getting Gamepass.

I tried to purchase again (second time) - as @Fielder suggested.  Still no go.  When I install, at 99% I get an error.  When I click the error a code comes up and I searched that code.  That error code corresponds to gamepass expired and that's what the Reps. tell me too.  So I think - only when on discount ($95.00)- they are requiring a game subscription.  BUT the Reps can't confirm that...they don't even seem to know. 

I give up.  Thanks all for the feedback.
