No Sir I wont. And the last thing I would want is to bore myself with any programming skills. I pay others to do that. Poor souls.

Rekt, as the youngsters say (I heard) 😅

Ignorance is both the bliss and bane of modern societies. It is the rich snobs, looking down their noses at and blithely tossing quarters at the lower classes, who are the guilty ones. This comment is a perfect embodiment of everything wrong with the 1st world many of us live in.

"Coward" is more accurate.

That's a cute assessment. Capability improvements are indeed facts. Does a seaplane rock according to the 3D wave motion in M$? Sure doesn't. Will trees in XP disappear like they do in M$? Sure won't. Do they move in M$? Sure don't. I'm struggling to see how those are opinions? Therefore, XP is more capable. More realistic in quite a few areas in both eye candy and realism. Many call that 'better'. What do you call it?

You seem to think indie devs are puttering around on the golf course instead of writing new code to compete with M$'s massive funding resources and then label their efforts subpar.

Just a quick note of misinfo I've seen stated several times.  It is incorrect that MSFS trees do not sway in the wind.  They do move as the wind increases and in the direction of the flow.  So does the procedural grass.  Both the trees and grass are generated with multiple layers of procedural textures (with a huge library of biome versions) as opposed to individual leaf geo.  Those shaders, however, do take wind and movement into account and its fun to watch as a storm front passes over, for example.

I wont dispute the "blow up" effect that occurs when you get within a few feet of the trees.. but.. minor compromise for an otherwise outstanding look.  The MSFS trees and folliage are some of the best I've seen from 50' or more away.  The tech demos on the new XP12 trees are impressive, but they seem a bit too repetitive when viewed as a group IMHO. (something that could certainly be addressed with the procedural tech, of course).  As with everything there are tradeoffs - the 3d trees do look really good close up - maybe a blend between the two is in order - shader textures in the distance and full 3D as you get close to individual trees.  I'm a "simulator agnostic" in the end and will always keep an eye to whatever moves this unique hobby of ours forward.

No,no. There is nothing as profound to deduce. It's this simple -

So I decide to fly, say LFAT to EGGD VFR in XP.  But before I do you expect me to spend three f... hours creating orthos in order for it to look realistic.  Not going to happen.

Oooo. I stand corrected!!

Certainly doesn't sound that way.

OK I've searched. Seems like voodoo. My socks are still on. Do you really expect me to do this for a product I have paid for? I will tolerate downloading stuff but not this nonsense. It's 2022. Are you serious? You want me to create my own scenery??!!

MSFS called. It misses you. Hard. Very hard. Like "finally home with my partner after three years at sea" hard.

Yeah. Guess he's busy. Not the same though here without him. Too bland.

Ok everyone, this has run its course. I'm shutting it down.

Oh ***, I forgot I'm not a mod.

Never mind, carry on!

He's on the org telling people that XP12 will be disappointing for many. He's in the alpha and has passed the denial phase already.

Hmm. I was banned from the Org but I've just checked and now I am not. Doesn't look to be a lot going on there, Hope he comes back here. No fun to be had otherwise.

There was recently a thread where IIRC people actually complained a bit along the XP11.6 line. Then janov came along saying that many will be disappointed. Then nicolas came and threatened to close the thread because of (alleged) trolling of course, but I have to say I found it quite noticeable that something like this even happened over there.

And nicolas unbanning you just proves he's desperate 😁
