Flying with Fenix A320, hard to dedicate time?

You are right,  I don't use real time loading, or wait for the passengers to use the rest rooms, or do a walk around for 15 minutes , or have the passengers go through the TSA line, etc, etc,  I just enjoy flying, not pretending that it is real life.

Me too. I use Instant load whenever I use the Fenix turn around state and Fast load whenever I use the Fenix cold and dark state. I also don't care for ground stuff (and won't even think about buying GSX). I only posted what I did because you do skip time at some point and other skip time at another point and so your both skipping time and that makes your previous post a bit funny. That's all. ;)

I don't "skip time" with regards to flying the Fenix, I skip the pretend, " I am at an airport stuff".  Not at all interested in that.

With a little practice you learn how to be efficient with time.

I load up MSFS, while waiting, quickly plan a flight on simbrief. Load it up in the Fenix (turn around state with APU on). Instant board the passengers finish programming the mcdu and pushback. That all should take a few minutes at most 🙂

Ofcourse if you want to pretend your in real life your gonna need a lot of free time to waste.

depending on what region of the world  you like to fly in, find some short flights that work for you, my go tos are

las-lax,ont,sna,San,bur,oak, sfo or any combination of those are usually easy for me to complete before the family needs me.

I’m positive similar city pairs with similar flight times can be found anywhere in the world.

 To the OP:

The thrill of flying for me is all about the takeoff and executing the approach and landing. Obviously depends on how you want to spend your leisure time. Some love the gates, pushback and taxi for the entire experience. Like threegreen mentions, I start the FENIX with the engines running on the RWY. Load the flight plan, weights and speeds and you are ready to go in less than 5 minutes. All my flights are 30-40 minutes. Pick close airports and enjoy the experience without worrying about the time constraints.

Save and restore is a basic feature . PMDG does this excently . If a developer does not   implement they dont get my money . Wasted too much money on half functioning aircraft. I want  to buy this aircraft but will not till save and restore is implemented fully. I get if I am lucky an hour a day to fly . I know all the workarounds but PMDG has set the bar they get my money not fenix . Off to buy a 600 that saves and restore. Not a beta toy to play with. My time my money my rules.

If this is referring to the Fenix, then you are either 1) deliberately being provocative, or 2) delusional. Just by lacking save/restore doesn't place the Fenix in the "beta toy" category.

I have owned all the PMDG aircraft in P3D, the Fenix is better than any of them.

@cannow Not sure if that was a tongue in cheek comment. If the FENIX is a half functioning aircraft, I am really impressed. Just finishing up a video flying the RNAV RNP guidance RWY 03 with the FENIX into LSZS. It flew the approach perfectly to ZS705! Nothing but sweet!

I am also one of these people that would like to have the OPTION of using time acceleration, and the OPTION of being able to save a flight en route. The fact that a lot of people like to fly simulator airplanes in the most realistic way possible is awesome, but this hobby shouldn’t be a zero sum game, where having the option to do something unrealistic takes away from users that like to follow realistic procedures. If you like to simulate a flight real time, good for you. If you like to expedite a flight without restricting yourself to the shortest route available, then we should be able to have that option too. Hopefully FENIX listens to feedback like this and can implement these features in the future.

If your computer gets hot when paused, there is something wrong with it.

It's blowing and the GPU and CPU keep running. I cannot imagine a current PC that could run MSFS without air cooling. It is a demanding sim, after all.

Carefull what you say guys a very graceful real life pilot will remind you all that you are all.

"pretend pilot" and  "armchair jockeys"

Got to love the a guy who things he is so much better than everyone else here in a flight sim forum and calls people "pretend pilot". I could say what I think of him but  he is really not worth it. 😂

Agree, and the gatekeeping in this thread is unreal. And simply put, every airplane should be able to save mid flight. It's not an insane request in flight sim where CTDs can ruin a three hour flight.

There is time acceleration on the Fenix (2x)? Also not sure what makes you think they just don't like to do that. As for saving and reloading that's not possible (at the moment?) due to the fact that many systems are being run externally outside of MSFS. So it's not like they don't want this, it's that they can't do it.

I understand that they bumped it up to 2x and that’s definitely a step in the right direction. All I’m trying to say is that it’s not unreasonable for people to want to have the option to be able to use time acceleration beyond 2X and being able to save a flight.
