August 4, 20223 yr So, I just tested now using 3090 and DX12 etc…. It’s forcing the card to stay below 8GB Vram usage, so when it approaches 7.5 ish, it induces stuttering. ohhhh well, I’ll wait until they reinstate it then. Glad it’s summer!

One step forwards, two back. 👀👀 Even in DX12 it is the same stuttery mess for me, 3090. I think I will leave the beta as it is now even worse than without the beta. It’s because they disabled DX12 memory manager optimization on NVIDIA GPUs. So it looks like your 3090 Vram isn’t being used, keeps resetting itself when it reaches 7.5Gb, causing a stutter

Tried in Realvfr Plymouth, was terrible, it has a lot of loading photogrammetry, which seems to relate to the extreme stuttering, but also on the relatively simple Eelde, Netherlands EHGG, although to a lesser extent. I wonder if they've disabled it for lower screen resolutions as the majority of people posting so far seem to be running 4K DLSS is exactly for the people running under 4K - it's an upscaling technology

DX12 is still unusable to me. After Vram gets maxed out FPS goes from 30 to 12 or 13. No artifacts but unflyable. So back to DX11 again. He said that people with low frame rates and/or high resolutions will benefit from it, because it "requires a fixed amount of GPU time per frame to run the deep neural network ". DLSS isn't enabled if the frame rendering time is shorter than it takes to execute the model. 4K was the deep learning AIs target resolution. Those with lower resolutions will get unreliable image quality. This was from the horse's mouth, so to speak. Edit: It's a performance boosting technology. To say it's an upscaling technology is looking at it the wrong way. Edited August 4, 20223 yr by March Hare

August 4, 20223 yr Back to DX11 and it's just impressive to see how poorly utilized my CPU is now. From DX12, all cores evenly used to DX11 and only 2-3 of 16 cores being used... Or actually 2-3 of 24 threads. Edited August 4, 20223 yr by Cpt_Piett 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
