I know you went to the trouble to test.. but the perf impact is to the CPU side, could you do the test at 1080p and see what the difference is?

Not just the inferior flight dynamics (maybe GA are flying well, but the airliners might as well still be on rails) but also the weather and GTA5 graphics have me flying XP12 90% of the time since a year or more ago. Even the taxiway lines / lights being drawn all over the place triggers me now - such a 'small' detail but yet completely wrong even after 4 years. Same for the default airports, a joke. I might purchase FS24 if the thing is a marked improvement over 2020, but I sure as hell won't be buying any 'deluxe' or 'premium' edition!

It might just become a 'simulator' some day... /ducks

Posting an x-plane related add-on in MSFS forum, how bonkers! And then to express an opinion on it... ouch, that's gonna hurt more now.

I use an Nvidia card and set power managment in the control panel to 'Normal' Which popular opinion would say 'that will tanks your performance!' But it doesnt. It gives full GPU power to the game when it is either Fullscreen or Windowed (and in focus) When out of focus, the GPU only then reduces its power. So in the cruise, when nuclear fusion isn't needed, and the game is not in focus, my GPU draws alot less power. My CPU is also in 'Balanced' power mode. So I go from ~160 watts CPU+GPU while pre-flighting and taking off down to ~80 watts for those cruise sections of the flight and I am 'working' on other stuff. The performance of the game in windowed un-focused mode is still >30fps, too.

From the cockpit the engines don't sound quite as good as they could be and I hear (!) PMDG are adressing the soundscape. But I have to mention the best sound I have heard in such an addon... Go to the cabin, next to the engines. Land without reversers and set auto brake 3 (or more) From that view, you can hear the brakes and thier awesome stopping power arresting 160-odd tons from 147kts, just as if you were sitting in the real thing. It's the small details such as this that delights me. And yes, I do like clicking pens....!

Some people prefer Helicopters, some Gliders, others like Tactical Fighters, a few dig Seaplanes, heck even that one person who loves Balloons ... everyone can find their favourite air machine and fly it.. That's the beauty of it !

I'm seeing a 5 fps hit (~32 vs 737 ~37) with the 777 compared to the 737. 5800X, 32GB, 4080ti in 1440p (frame gen off)

Once the trailer went out, that was the nail for any hope of cloud variation / depiction being improved. You can see it, and thats now set in stone because the 'lipstick' in this game is one of the top 'features' The improved lighting, the improved ground mesh, biomes, aurora ... this is what we will be getting (and all very welcome for sure) The partnerships were great and many but not a single community rep from the weather side seems to be there. So here we are, jumping to the enevitable conclusion that the weather isn't gonna change much and hence some of us are irked about it. Those us that spend longer above FL300 than below it .. and it seems we are very few from comments here abouts.

Either $59.99 and people complain it's too cheap or $79.99 and people complain its too expensive. The download servers will die, regardless!

Squirrel did a 10 hour livestream with 600ish live viewers and 20,000 views on the VOD. It didn't fall out of the sky and it was all very nice. Think its gonna be ok... But melodrama is the lifeblood of the the internet and thats why we all eat it up, wheather we admit to it or not!

Absolutley, credit where credit is due, Jorg and also Seb have transformed the landscape (a pun if you saw every detail in thier presentation!) of flight simulation. Fair dues to them, MS needed some persuasion I am sure and they brought in the players in their Millions (huge amount via XBOX, as slightly annoying that is sometimes) And so the rewards are being reaped and we are having an Expo like no other.
