Save 10 suitable cameras, and you can look at any area. From the position of your choice from any angle you choose. And its less finicky than track ir. Ok... that sounds similar. I wouldn't describe TrackIR as finicky, but then I've only had it for a few weeks. It seems to work well and has been a game-changer for me. I can't imagine using the sim without it (or something similar) now. As I said, my setup with a 77" TV steered me towards TrackIR as I didn't really have anywhere to mount the Tobii product within arms reach. Edited August 28, 20223 yr by Virtual-Chris

As you have only just invested in Track ir, no need to consider an eye tracker. I used Track ir from day 1 of fs2020, it did the job and was a game changer and i worked with all it's minor issues, which eventually frustrated me enough that I was happy to find a new alternative on the eye tracker 5, which just works for me. Enjoy track ir, if it gives you no issues, no need to consider the tobii eye tracker. It does the same thing.
September 3, 20223 yr Author Are there any news if tobii is working on updates for Tobii Eyetracker 5 to optimize it's weak spots? I am not sure which one to buy. According to some youtube reviews TrackIR seems to be a bit better optimized. Does Tobii support TrueView feature? I am wondering if TrackIR will bring out an EyeTracker either? Since when the Tobii Eyetracker is on the market? MIght be there in the near feature a tobii eyetracker 6 with better optimisation or will they optimize the Tobii 5 version? So would it worth just waiting for a optimized version? I don't know if the optimisation is only software based or rather hardware. This thing is not cheap, I want to make the right decision not ending up being regretting for not being patient enough waiting for a better version or just picking the wrong manufakturer...
September 3, 20223 yr Just received my Tobii today after decade of using TrackIR v4 and v5. First feedback after 3 hours of discovery that certainly will need more tunings and applying your tips&tricks. What a suprise! I’m so far amazed and is ready to resell my TrackIR, 1. Setup took me 5 minutes. The time to figure out how the plastic holder works 🙂 I set the bar at bottom slightly facing upward with the included plastic holder. It took me 1 hour to discover the settings, watching videos and testing values. Tobii is also Windows Hello compatible allowing me to open my session with typing anything 🙂 This video wrap up nicely the settings inside MSFS. But I’m still fighting with profile’s saving in MSFS. It seems MSFS don’t want to save my own-name profile. Still have to figure out. Need more investigation. I’m a GA addict so I flew circuits in C172, requiring to look everywhere, right, left and moving forward to catch the runway on most turns. 2. I have the impression that the capture angle is better/wider than my TrackIr v5. I encountered almost none sensor freeze (when you’re head’s sensors are out of range). Tuning some parameters limited the shakyness and enhanced stability, thus finally have a better experience. I changed the ratio Eyes vs Head tracking : 0.95 (instead of 0.85) and Center Stabilization at 0.3 (instead of 0.2). Also, test Head Tracking Sensitivity: PITCH/YAW -1.5 (instead of 2). 3. I don’t understand why the moving forward/backward functionality is not activated by default. You have to set 1 to POSITION and this feature is a must-have in high wings turning final. And it works better than with my TrackIR 5 ! 4. As many, I miss the « pause + don’t reset the view » shortcut. But Internet seaches pop up some discussion and there’s still hope. And finally, it’s so cool not to have to wear a baseball cap and launch the app outside MSFS 🙂 Edited September 3, 20223 yr by vbazillio Vincent B. September 7, 20232 yr I use TrackIR for P3Dv5 and Tobii for MSFS2020 & XP In MSFS2020 and XP Tobii is fantastic. I can adjust my seated view point to however I like it. In P3D it's not so good. I can't adjust my seated position in P3D and I always feel I am seated too high, and I have to look down to see my instruments. I have spent many hours trying to adjust my position, and it's like it's locked. Pete Richards I've owned every version of flight simulator since Flight Simulator 3.0 in 1988. I use it for both as well but that would be a good piece of knowledge to have.. 🤠👍 Regards,Pivoti9-10900k * 64Gb Ram * MSI RTX 4070 Ti Gaming X Trio * Steel Series Arctis Pro Wireless Headset * Win11 Home x64 * Beam ET * TM Warthog Combo, Honeycomb Alpha & Saitek Pro-Rudders
September 9, 20232 yr When I enable Tobii (F9 key) I setup the seat position view I want using the "pageup" & "pagedown" and arrow keys and hit the F12 key to lock in the view. I like to centre my Bravo Yoke with the cockpit view "Yoke". I also enable and disable Tobii (F9) regularly and when I press F12 I have my preferred Tobii view. One thing I have noticed though, is that from session to session my Tobii seat view does not seem to hold (slightly off), even for the same aircraft, but I don't mind. It's easy to setup when I start a new session. i913900KF (5.8GHz) | Case: Fractal PopAir RGB I Gigabyte Z790 UD AX| MSI Gaming RTX 4070Ti Super 16GB | Kingston Fury Beast 64GB DDR5 5200Mhz | SOLIDIGM P41 Plus 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD | Samsung SSD 870 EVO 2TB | Thermalright Frozen Notte 240 MM Liquid Cooling | LG EVO 42" Monitor 3840 x 2160 120Hz | Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo | Logitech G Pro pedals | Tobii EyeTracker | 850W Thermaltake 80+ GOLD |
