August 25, 20223 yr I never used TrackIR, but now considering buying Tobii Eye Tracker 5, because it seems more comfortable. Would you say it's worth it? There were options to built your own Freetrack, that never worked for me. Are there reliable and easy options to built such a things by yourself or would you just by that think without any headache?

Biggest benefit for me of using Tobii is not having to wear anything on my head. Overall I am happy with it. Especially after Asobo added native support. August 25, 20223 yr Author Is it easy to change setting on the Autopilot? I imagen you need to focus quite well on the knob when turning it...because otherwise it might get shaky?? Is it easy to configure?
August 25, 20223 yr Tobbi is great. No complains. Stability is also very good as well. Just turn off the eye tracking and use had tracking only.
August 25, 20223 yr Been wanting to get the Tobii as well. Got sick of the extra wire for TrackIR and wearing a cap while flying was silly. August 25, 20223 yr I looked into it and settled on TrackIR because I use a 77" display about 5' away and my research said that eye tracker needs to be arm's length away... so it really depends on your setup.
August 25, 20223 yr I’ve used both, both work but I so much prefer tobii for the fact that I don’t have to wear anything on my head, for those that say “well the hardware is light and you barely notice it”… don’t really care if it’s light and barely noticeable, I prefer nothing, and tobii offers that. I use a 4K 55" TV as my monitor and I am sitting about 15 inches away from it and I have no issues with the Tobii. Not sure about the 77" though.
August 25, 20223 yr I’ve used TIR4 for years. But after EZCA came out I immediatly stop using and sold it. FS2020 camera is very similar to EZCA and unless you want to look around continuosly in the cockpit you can forget any tracking system. August 25, 20223 yr I've had and tried both Trackir5 and Tobii. For the latter, I liked not having to wear any headgear, but I did find Trackir to be more precise. Even with eye tracking turned off and using only the head tracking on Tobii, it seemed to not be quite as precise as Trackir. That said, both solutions are great, imo.
August 25, 20223 yr I use tobii. 43" 4k TV with the tracker underneath the screen. Screen size doesn't matter for head tracking (which is the best way to use it)... the screen size and position is only important for eye tracking. I sit about 2ft from the screen. It's brilliant.
