by turning HDR tone mapping OFF in my OLED menu, then tweaking the highlights with reshade (another option is to reduce max nits in TV menu). But I went through a lot of hoops to get there.

there is an easier solution: use your 55" TV as your monitor that doesn't know yet what HDR is, like mine, or use a VR headset 😊

Probably old news since I'm a bit late on this one. But I was also greeted by the "insert disc". Solved it quickly by opting out of the Gaming services in the Insider hub as per a forum suggestion.

Same for me. But I don't remember, in fact I am sure I didn't, opt into the Gamer Services preview? What is this Gamer Services thing anyway?

No. As per the last Twitch Q&A, they need to mask the glass parts of the gauges, so that DLSS is not used on the glass parts of the gauges.  No timeline on when they can do this.  My guess is SU 11 or SU 12.

Solid workaround though.

Announcing DirectX 12 Ultimate

March 19th, 2020

we are beyond pleased to bring gamers DirectX 12 Ultimate, the culmination of the best graphics technology we’ve ever introduced in an unprecedented alignment between PC and Xbox Series X.

.................................................

in other words: 3 - 5 years after development of MSFS had begun. so "it was NOT around" or stable when Asobo began work on MSFS. P3Dv5 introduced DX12 in 2020 IIRC.

All of a sudden: "Insert de MFSF Disc".

How do you solve this?

this and a temporary workaround was discussed in much detail earlier in this very thread and on forums.flightsimulator.com, that's what all the current beta headline breaking news were all about:

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/please-insert-the-msfs-game-disk-with-beta-only/540595/233

"3 days without being able to lunch the game!" 🤣

beta testing? dear gamers, pilots, children .... don't try this at home

Just finished the first flight in .21. Performance is as good as it has been in the latest updates i.e. very good (DX11).

Tested at 4K ultra | terrain LOD 6.0 | shadows size 6144 | DLSS quality. Got around 60 fps at FL200 over North Is. NZ. Started up FSHud which injects AIG and GA traffic => fps down to around 50.

On final approach around 33fps and now mainthread limited. Parked on the ground at Rotorua 41 fps.

All in all smooth and fluid like the latest updates, so that's reassuring.

I won't bother to test DX12 as I expect the same as the latest builds i.e. stutters, especially when panning.

Here's a screen grab at FL200.

And here's final approach:

But the DLSS feature don't. At least a RTX type is required (series -20 and -30)

I have a 1070 with no DLSS option. However, the new sharpening tool in SU10 -- which nobody talks about anymore -- works beautifully with the 10 series and up. The scenery is much sharper and, with SU10, no more shimmering. Those of you who haven't seen SU10 yet will be very pleased indeed, both performance-wise and visually.

The nvidia's "Image Sharpening" feature (if that's it what you're referring to) has been around for some time already. I started using it when I had P3D installed and drastically improved the sharpness of the game. I'm using the feature for MSFS and it has the same effect, although less pronounced compared to P3D given the better graphics quality of MSFS. Performance wise, I did not notice any effect on any of my two MSFS setups, for good or for bad when using the feature.

I'm not participating in the SU10 beta, but are you saying that a different sharpening tool is now (or will be) included in SU10?.

Yes. The new sharpening tool in SU10 is completely apart from the Nvidia tool. My understanding is that this new sharpening technique was originally developed by AMD, but is now accessible by Nvidia users as well. But this sharpening, again, is completely independent of the Nvidia tools. The new sharpening technique in SU10 works great even with my seven-year-old 1070.

Great. Didn't know anything about it until now. Hopefully SU10 is released very soon, then.

I wish they would hurry up with the driver. If it as good as the very first SU10, then it’s gonna be immense!

I am due an upgrade end of year, just waiting for the new CPU's before I decide.

PS could get a Brunner force feedback yoke instead of new GPU 😉
