This impacts the scenery as well but, if you're careful, you can improve the VC a little without over-lightening the scenery. A decent Reshade filter that gives you separate control over shadows/mid-tones/highlights helps. I use Reshade anyway, so it was relatively easy to do - but installing/using Reshade (especially on the MS Store version) can be a little complicated for the uninitiated. Some posters here claim that eye adaption (the culprit) has been significantly turned down (because of problems with VR) but I maintain that it's been disabled completely - having tested in DX11 and DX12, with adaptation set on and off (in the .cfg file). I can see no difference whatsoever - at least on my system, with the latest nVidia drivers. Same here, there is no longer any Eye - adaption effect just an overly dark panel, it makes zero difference if my eyepoint is down in the cockpit of looking ahead, its just dark. David Mills. I havnt updated my GPU Driver in months, I have an old 1070 card and am a believer of 'if it aint broke dont fix it' My driver version is 30.0.15.1215 It seems to be something Asobo did, but its just odd that its only affecting a few people in this way, though most agree there has been some sort of change relating to eye adaption and cockpit brightness. I normally dont get too bothered with minor graphical changes, but panel/instrument visibility is such a fundamental thing, makes no difference how pretty it is outside Edited October 2, 20223 yr by Pathfinder633

Strange. For me it does seem to make a big difference if I tilt the view down slightly - cockpit brightness increases significantly. Whereas with mostly external in view, the cockpit is fairly dark usually. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
October 2, 20223 yr However, this effect does not seem to apply to all aircraft in the same way. Yesterday, I found three different levels of this effect on three different aircraft: B787 - normal brightness as always HondaJet - slightly darker but still OK(-ish) Longitude - much too dark I am on an iMac with AMD graphics.
October 2, 20223 yr Weird, I just did another test after updating Drivers, didnt make any difference to Eye adaption in cockpit view, but I just noticed I actually have the eye adaption feature happening in outside view but not in cockpit, how strange (I imagine it was like this before driver update, I just dont use outside view much so probably hadnt noticed it working there)
October 7, 20223 yr Found this thread - did we find any solutions to these very dark cockpits ? Tried the NCP colours but to no succes. Thanks Michael Moe Michael Moe

Thanks Michael Moe Geforce Detail Filter does the trick handily--just play with the drop down controls in it, plus adjust your desktop colors in NVCP--very pleased now w/ cockpit brightness. Thanks tried it a bit via Alt+F3 but it does also effect outside VC. Any settings to try out? Lots of options there. Michael Moe Michael Moe

October 9, 20223 yr I notice when going from fullscreen to window mode with default MSFS the brightness is brighter for a second then its back to darkness. Same vice versa to full screen again. For now i only change HDR in G.E. Great to change value on the run. Maybe shaders should be cleaned more often? Its great we have that option as well like we have with Chaseplane on P3DV5. Still on DX11 ,havent tried out DX12. Michael Moe Edited October 9, 20223 yr by Michael Moe Michael Moe
