It is for me. Me too ! I can consistently hit 50fps in the PMDG or Fenix with high to ultra settings, even higher in less demanding aircraft (I actually lock 50fps as I have a custom refresh rate of 50Hz on my 4K TV, it works superbly) , TLOD - 175 & OLOD 200. The sim looks amazing and is smooth as silk. People are obsessed by running the sim maxed out at 60 fps but in reality it looks no difference from what I am running, I compared the settings I have now and everything maxed out. My GPU typically sits around 70% utilized and only draws around 300W with an undervolt in place. Of course in heavy weather scenarios it will be fully utilized but definitely does not run pegged at 100% all the time. Yes a 40XX card may be able to run the sim at 130fps but will it be any smoother than what I have now? I very much doubt it. I am very happy with my 3090 although my local hydro provider is a little disappointed they will not have to bring the standby nuclear power station online for a 40XX card 🤣 Richard i7-12700K | Noctua NH-D15S Black Version | MSI Pro Z690 - A | 32 GB DDR4 3600 | Gigabyte Gaming OC 4090 | 1TB WD Blue NMVe (MSFS 2020) | 500 GB WD Black Gen 4 NVMe | 4TB WD Black Conventional | Fractal Design Torrent Case | Seasonic 1000W Gold Plus PSU | Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke | Honeycomb Throttle | Airbus Side Stick | Virpil Rudder Pedals | Sony X90K 55 Inch TV |

The RTX 40 Series doesn’t require a new power supply if you already meet the PSU wattage recommendations. The RTX 4090 TGP is 450 W and the minimum recommended PSU is 850 W. The 4080 16GB TGP is 320 W with a minimum recommended power supply of 750W, and the minimum recommended power supply for the 4080 12GB is 700W. PCI-SIG warned of potential overcurrent/overpower risk with 12VHPWR connectors using non-ATX 3.0 PSU & Gen 5 adapter plugs. Why did PCI-SIG issue the warning and how does this affect NVIDIA’s new products? It does not affect NVIDIA’s new products. During early development and testing we identified a potential issue with a prototype connector manufactured from a sole supplier. As a PCI-SIG member, we informed the supplier, asked them to fix it (which they did), and shared our findings to help suppliers who are implementing the new standard. The PCI-SIG was passing along those learnings to other suppliers. Why is there only a 30 cycle lifetime on these new PCIe Gen 5 connectors? The 30 cycle spec is the same as it’s been for the last 20+ years on existing PCIe/ATX 8pin connectors, and has not changed with the PCIe Gen5 connectors or power adapters.
