NVidia Game Ready Driver with fixes for MSFS released!

Featured Replies

Are there any changes to be made to the Nvidia Control Panel with the new driver and or DX12?

I DDU'd to the new driver. Kept all settings the same, both in MSFS (DX11/TAA) and Nvidia control panel (as belows instruction). Had a smooth flight, but not much improvements.

I think you could pretty much run default settings and be fine. Not a bad idea to choose max power though.

Rest assured fs2020er's will probably make a video to enlighten us all 🙂 I say that tongue in cheek as I have to follow his video every time I DDU/cleaninstall a new driver.

I don't really understand the 2D fps result...nor that I'm getting as good DLSS fps in VR as in 2D - but it might be because the headset was on and I was turning the VR on and off from within MSFS.  A better result with non-VR might have been if I'd started and stayed in 2D with the VR headset disabled.

true. checked if your graphics setting in VR are all exactly the same as in 2D? ,it's easy to overlook changes you might have made.

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

Well: as I see at this moment never my VRAM gets used more than 50%, and it was around 100% with SU10 Beta1 and 2  (I have 24 GB VRAM) what do you think I would interpret it?

Not in my case, with both Studio and Game Ready drivers, with DLSS enabled, my RTX3060 uses almost fully its 12gb VRAM, with TAA it uses 9,6gb VRAM, so some diferent memory management is currently going on.

Just an update for me (terrrible FPS) regardless of driver version and Dx11 or Dx12.

I finally found the culprits thanks to a viewer on the main Asobo forum- Nvidia, has done something to the drivers under windows 11 that causes complete FPS slowdown if MSI afterburner and Riva Tuner are running .

Disabled both these on startup and presto, got my FPS back thank goodness (for now at least!!  - I restarted the PC twice more to confirm this solution remained in place after relaunching MSFS and indeed it did!!

Now to rebuild the rest of the Missing 3rd party content

I was having to always go back to his video each time too. I gave up now and just run the GF Experience. Can't perceive any difference for the effort of stripping down the driver install. But that's just me. I promised myself this time round (MSFS vs FSX) that I wouldn't be one of those people ! 🙂

I run the latest NV GR driver together with MSI Afterburner (4.6.4.16255) and Riva (7.3.3) under Windows 11 and I do not have this issue. Do you have same software versions as me?

I will check what versions of MSI and Riva I was running. For now, I am really happy my FPS has returned to normal,  Post window 11 upgrade and SU10 upgrade . I did not check version numbers before I came across this solution, I was getting errors about overclocked GPU or Heat problem, or corrupted Nvidia driver. The irony is I never overclocked my GPU and the fans where not screaming in the PC case from demand. This error has now gone now that I temporarily disabled these two Startups.

By the way,  Are you running Windows 11 latest update??

I am still on 21H2. Have not received the update.

I wonder if that has something to do with it??

not to mention the various DLSS performance/quality levels. I see blurries mostly in altitude+ speed-tapes of glass cockpits. analog instruments are fine.

Great post.

Which driver ?

This post refers to six months ago. Just wanted to point this out, because folks might get confused about the timing.

For what it's worth as an exclusively VR user (HP Reverb G2, RTX 3080, Ryzen 5800x3d):

Using the new Nvidia Driver I lost about 7-10 frames keeping the exact same settings I had been using.  That's testing on both DX11 and DX12.  I've reverted back to what I consider the gold standard driver currently 516.59, and I've once again got super smooth framerates.

To me anyway, DX12 and this new driver do not provide anything worthwhile...in fact, they make things worse.

Good post  ... you say which driver you use.

Hard to believe how many posts on this tgread omitting tge driver they're bangingvon about.

I give up.

As noted by jrw4, this all relates to some very old posts, so the comments are not likely to be helpful to you at the present time.

Fwiw, the most recent driver is 531.41 that came out 5 days ago. I'm still on the previous driver, though I'm not aware of any particular problems with NVidia's latest version.

Unlike the FSX days, I tend to just update to whatever is new when it comes out - works pretty well with modern hardware and MSFS.
