I Saw The Partial Eclipse Of Today In MSFS 2020

Recommended Posts

Don’t know where I was but it was before noon PDT and when I saw it I knew exactly what it was, a partial eclipse, but  did not know why.  Then I saw on the news later that there was a partial eclipse that occurred today. Pretty cool

Anyone else?

Wow! I saw that yesterday as well - in a virtual flight over the UK. I thought it was a glitch and didn't think to check!

What do you see? Momentary dusk effect? Or just the moon blocking the sun?

I saw it this morning, too. Was flying Denver to Vegas at sunrise. I don't think I should have been able to see it from there IRL, but it was cool nonetheless.

GONE BOATING - It's like fishing, but with a clean deck.

Yeah, I think was in EMEA truth be told. EGAALOWI milk-run 😎. I also have video I believe. I’ll edit a clip and post it back to this thread in the next twenty four hours.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Partial eclipses have been in the Sim since launch, unfortunately Total Eclipses are not possible (and neither is the darkening effect).

Sometimes I have to pinch myself that we're this lucky. To have a AAA sim platform that has things like this and is still being updated every month...with free planes like the IniBuilds A310 no less, is truly remarkable. Especially if you compare where flight simulation was a little over 3 years ago.

The total solar eclipse in 1991 July 11 was nowhere near Russia, so I am not sure what that second video title is all about.

Given the sun was below the horizon there when the eclipse occurred then no, you shouldn’t.

29% of the sun was eclipsed at 09:50 Zulu here in England and an hour later it was all over.

If you pause the 1st video at 15 seconds, that's what the sun looked like as it rose departing Denver. The left side was missing a piece. I had to search the web to find out there really was an eclipse today and then I realized I should not have seen it from my location.
