Would a FreeSync monitor yield the same results as one with G-snyc?  I think I know the answer but wanted to ask anyways....

I have a Samsung 4k FreeSync monitor.  How it works in practice is just the same as G-Sync, but not so well under limited fps conditions.
Even on the ultimate setting, if frames drop below about 43 fps, it stops syncing.
This is not so much a problem for me as I run at 60 fps now, but if you can afford it, go for a high quality G-Sync.

The cost of the G-Sync compared to FreeSync is quite a bit more, but you get what you pay for.
On the other hand, if you can hold 50 fps but not quite 60, then FreeSync could work well for you.  This is where I was when I bought mine, but the arrival of DLSS, so fine tuning / tweaking, and a few hardware upgrades have changed things for the better for me.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

This is where LFC would kick in, and with regards to G-Sync compatible, G-Sync and G-sync ultimate, this is important. You don’t want a compatible display if you can avoid it, they’re cheaper for a reason. They have VRR ranges that are no good for MSFS (44-100 ish)and flickering at night. (Dark scenes). All to do with the way the tech is implemented.

G-sync is where it’s at, and ultimate if you want good looking  HDR, but only use HDR if it’s 1000 or above.

edit looks like 600-700 is ok now:-

It depends. My OLED comes with low frame compensation and g-sync active below 20fps. And I don’t get the low light VRR flicker if bloom is off.

Sheesh. I wonder then...what settings would be best for me, then? I have my Sim locked at 30fps (which I am content with) but my Gsync monitor only goes up to 60hz. Should the Max frame rate be set for 30 in NVCP, or 57 like it states in Blur Busters. I have two monitors. One for Navigraph, web browsing etc and the other for sim-focused. Maybe that is my issue?

Nah, having the second monitor doesn't do anything for frames or smoothness.

Two monitors can cause gsync issues as you must physically click msfs to keep it in focus on the main window. Turn the gsync indicator on and you’ll see what I mean.

I have an old (2016) 34" Widescreen, 1440p LG monitor with 60hz max.  I suspect any monitor would be an upgrade.  I get slight tearing and stutters sometimes but the stutters barely noticeable and probably a function of me not knowing any different.

I can live with having to physically click on my gsync monitor to keep it going.

I set my NVCP to 57 fps max frame rates and set the vsync in the sim to 30fps. A lot smoother now.

After a lot of reviews took the plunge at $896 from Amazon two minutes ago and I think I'll love it over the old Dell 3415W!

front edge sync

If I understand correctly, this is your method, and you get this by setting 60Hz refresh rate, and then set 1 in Scanline x/2 in RTSS?
