Useful Info For SU11 Participants On Tomorrows 40th Rollout

Recommended Posts

Regardless of if beta testers receive SU11 an hour early or not it still wouldn't make me want to join in on the beta. For those of you that wish to do so just keep in mind that once you stop participating in the beta your entire sim is uninstalled without warning. I made that mistake with SU10, never again. There is one benefit though - it removes all bloatware freeware you installed which you never use...

That doesn't happen on Steam version.
Though if you drop out now before SU11 before goes live, it will break your main menu map, but that is fixable by deleting the fs-base-ui-pages folder and letting the sim reinstall them.

But there's no point in dropping out the beta before release, we'll get everything tomorrow the same as everyone else, it just might not happen at the exact same time.

For Microsoft Store version that is installed in the default location it might do that. If you move the main file location, eg Community/Official folders to a custom drive then a full install will not be necessary. I have been in SU betas from day 1 and never had any problems.

Useful?

Does DX12 improve ground textures from having artifacts of ortho scenery below it? Performance?

Graphics?

I'm good either way.  If it needs to reinstall,  no big deal.

I'm on the store version and left and joined Betas quite regular... My sim was never deleted!? But as some other comment mentioned, I have no default packages folder.

Cheers T.

"No matter the platform - Steam, MS Store, or Xbox, if you are currently enrolled in the Beta you will stay in the Beta post-release unless you opt out. When SU11/40th comes out, you will automatically receive the update within an hour of when it goes live due to some internal limitations."

i.e. not an hour early but an hour later.

Nice reward for all the testing!    Still, I suppose we already have SU11 really.  It is just the content we will have to wait a little longer for.

No DAD.  The original communication wasn't clear, but beta testers have to wait an extra hour due to the way Asobo's 'internal systems' work, whatever that means.  I love the sim and what they do, but clear communication has never been their strongest point.

Still going ahead at 16:00 GMT, or 17:00 for the beta testers.  Strange I know, but they don't explain why.

Last time I opted out of the beta and when I started up MSFS next day the left view client was fine but the front view server redownloaded the complete sim again…

What is the 100% failprove way to do it without issues this time ?

So true - it wasn't the Beta process for me but I tweaked something later on I regretted - so I reinstalled.   It gave me a better opportunity to remove a bunch of community stuff I don't need and I stopped having every marketplace airport I don't fly too but a couple of times a year uninstalled.   Now I just load what I need instead of all just sitting there - makes loading a breeze and overall a bit smoother (at least I think so)

To find a different hobby 😂

But seriously, I'm not opting out of anything. Last time I did, the whole sim got deleted. I'll take an extra hour vs an extra day reinstalling everything!

All players in the testing group will automatically receive the final build within about an hour of its release to the general public. The delay in the publish to the testing groups is due to a limitation of our release process, and we thank you for your understanding.

I read this as beta testers will get this an hour late and not an hour early. It is the word "delay" in the release that makes me think this.
