December 24, 20223 yr Moderator Well, it was going to be, but unfortunately the absurd weather has frozen the underground pipe from this property's well, so I had to go buy 4 gallons of water yesterday. I had left both the hot and cold water taps in the bathroom and the kitchen slow dripping, but apparently the landlady didn't leave their taps slow dripping before leaving for Ohio. I checked their outdoor faucets and found them frozen solid as well. <sigh> While at the Walmart Marketplace nearest where I now live, I learned that a very likeable 16-year-old Irishman who had always been so helpful and polite passed away suddenly several weeks ago. Everyone at the store loved Mae and were devastated by his sudden demise. He fell ill and passed within four days. <double sigh> Hot Springs, Arkansas had snow for the first time in twenty some years. Heck, I moved from NW Indiana to get away from this white menace! It is so cold that even the little pond facing my house is now solid ice! <triple sigh> Oh well, it could be worse (dare I tempt fate by saying this?) 😱 I pass along my best wishes and prayers for everyone to enjoy this season's blessings in the best way possible, given the extremes of this year's weather events. Merry Christmas! 🎅 No fireplace, but there are reverse cycle AC units installed that are keeping this 1200 sq ft cottage warm enough. Thankfully rent includes all utilities, so I don't have to worry about the electric bill! 🤑 As for the water, the temperature should be around 60º F by Friday of next week, so hopefully the water pipes will thaw out finally. December 25, 20223 yr We got down into the single digit and low double digits but no snow. Just lots of sunshine under severe clear but that didn't warm things up much. We're coming out of it now. No frozen water pipes. I guess ours deep enough not to freeze and I have those foam insulators on the outdoor yard pipes. 20 or so years ago we even went to below 0 once. These arctic bubbles of cold air make it down here from time to time. And they are pretty shallow so Ruidoso up in the mountains to the west of us and 4,000 feet higher is warmer than we are during these episodes. The problem is the Creator forgot to mountain range between between the central US and the North Pole so that arctic air has nothing to stop it when it decides to visit us. Noel The tires are worn. December 25, 20223 yr Author Moderator UPDATE: It's a Christmas Miracle! The sun came out and thawed out whatever was frozen, so I've got my water going again. That's a real good thing too, as the porcelain bombsite was getting kind of gross. 💩 Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator

December 26, 20223 yr Good news for Northern California Charlie but unless it wends it's way into the Colorado or Green River basins not much in it for Southern California. Noel The tires are worn. The shocks are shot. The steering is wobbly. But the engine still runs fine.
