Google Map Enhancement Mod

Featured Replies

The addon provides an option to use the latest Bing map, Google map, or others. It's simple to switch maps during flight (don't even have to pause!), and I do it often depending on the specific terrain I am flying over.

They sent the license to me in about half a day if that is what you are asking.

Sorry for necrobumping. I have a question. Does using Google Map Replacement Mod instead of Bing Data reduce GB data consumption, and should I turn off the Bing World Data or just keep it ON when using Google Map Replacement. Thank you

I use the Bing option on the program.

I find that distant mountains and textures look far better, sharper, less washed out than default.  Flying now looks seriously brilliant at any altitude.  I saw there was a bit of a dip in performance which has been eradicated by frame gen.  I've had the most beautiful flights over the last few days.

How big is the Bing GB data in your routine flights?

I've never really bothered checking.  I don't use the high detailed option.  I have an averagely good broadband connection and no longer have any tiling issues.  I did in previous releases.

I suppose this is subjective...

If you fly over an area you are familiar in real life with then it may make a difference but if you have never known an area/city/town would we know the difference?

That's probably why I just stick with Bing..

The MOD has an option for more modern Bing maps than the default.  The map options can be higher resolution too, so great for VFR.

For IFR flying it makes absolutely no difference.

Only if it's foggy or the clouds are on the deck for the whole flight 😁
