January 30, 20233 yr Is it possible to change planes in a flight without going back to the main menu? I know it was possible in older versions of FS, but I've not been able to figure out how to do it in MSFS 2020. In the older versions you could change in mid-flight (which could be tricky) but I'd prefer to change while on the ground on a leg of a flight without going all the way back to the main menu, finding the airport where I landed, and starting over. Thanks. Edited January 30, 20233 yr by Jeff_M
January 30, 20233 yr I believe the developer menu has an aircraft selector but to be honest, it's probably best going back to the main menu and selecting the plane to make sure it loads correctly. January 30, 20233 yr Sadly not. For me, the biggest miss from the old FSX days. I'm sure there's a reason for it. I've seen some say that you can do it in Developer Mode, but I've not gotten into that mode's features yet, so not sure. I sometimes (often) load the wrong livery in Neofly 4 and have successfully gone from the JPL Cessna 152 to the Asobo default 152 in Developer Mode, and have not noticed anything wrong. Just Flight Turbo Arrows are a different animal, though. They don't like the change. Conclusion is it's usually faster and safer to just back out and reload from the main menu. -J 13700KF | RTX 4090 @ 1440 | 64GB DDR5 | 2 x 1TB SSDs | 1TB M.2 NVMe

January 31, 20233 yr There is a way to change planes without going back to Main Menu. I do it routinely. Hit ESC, select Developer Menu, enable then return to flight. Open the pull down menu Under Windows for Aircraft Selection, select the airplane, Load. Your new aircraft will be waiting for you at the location you just exited. HOWEVER, please note, the remainder of your flight might not be recorded in the pilot's log. Otherwise, all functions have worked fine for me, excepting logging the second part of the flight. I have done this many times, even changing planes multiple times during a particular route while checking for hardware control behavior. If your log book is sacred, then you should probably avoid this method as there's a good chance the flight will not be recorded..

Exactly, he asked if he had to go back to the main menu, and you stated that the only way to change planes is to "Restart MSFS" (check your post, word for word). Going back to the main menu is quite different from restarting MSFS, given load up times! 😄 Bill 😎FS2024 • Currently in 'GA mode' : A2A Comanche 2024 & Aerostar • Black Square C208, Bonanzas, Barons, TBM850, Dukes • COWS DA40 & DA42 • FSW Legacy, C24R Sierra & C414 • Echo Falco F8L • FFX HJET, Visionjet and P180 2024 • Got Friends A32 Vixxen • FSReborn Sirius TL3000, Sting S4 and Piper M500 • Flyboy Rans S6S • Skyward Sovereign+ and DA50RG • SWS Zenith CH701, RV-10, RV-14, PC12 • Air Foil Labs Bristell B23 TrackIR • BeyondATC • PMS GTN Payware • RealTurb • Axis & Ohs9800X3D • RTX 3080 • 64GB DDR5-6000Former PPL IR, grounded by diabetes. January 31, 20233 yr It's funny when you think about it. Many threads on this forum demand absolute realism from MSFS, yet lament that we can't change planes in mid flight.
