Guess that depends on what issues you're referring to.

That of all the things he could have picked for a current "worst thing about XPlane" to randomly throw into a thread about coming back to xplane, its actually proper funny he chose to put a C172 on a helipad at

when in X-Plane a simple check in a checkbox by anyone in the community will turn it into

And all the other sims would probably need most of their team working for a week or so to fix a similar issue. If they addressed it at all.

but they are NOT fixing known issues quickly.

Well, it was only 3 months ago or so that

You could barely complete a flight because of the memory leak (XPD-13797)

all the weather stuff was 80% borken, including being able to see the powerlines through the clouds

The VR dashboard didn't work (XPD-13802)

All the 3rd party aircraft lighting was completely borken

TCAS wake turbulence was completely missing (XPD-12879)

Plus probably another 50 or so "show stopper" items that I block out because they were so painful.

So I do think it is fair to say that fixing XP12 issues from then to now has progressed at break neck speed - I pretty much expect the remaining ones to be signed off around 12.1X.

Yet despite all those, I was still

and

back in October and November last year and loving every second.

Taildraggers !!!

Do it in other, non-combat, sim, and ... Mehhhhhh what a pure Arcade!

In some aspects XP12 goes even further in realism than IL-2 !!! for instance, but not only, regarding ground handling of the Spitfire, which is way more like in DCS World ( probably the best reference in this particular aspect ).

I care a LOT more for the "feel of flight" and overall physics modelling, so, I couldn't go without XP12 these days...

Did you VR yet?

indeed, and the reason you didnt have to pay 17,000 × $5+ for xplane like you would for all the other sims, is Laminar have been working closely with their community for decades, and that community gave you them for free.

Yes the gateway system is one of the greatest things ever made for any sim.

could have been worse, you could have paid 3x the price for a simplistic sim that didnt even have NZMF included.

Oh wait you did.

Ouch.

well, you live and learn, like I said, check that flatten checkbox and your latest big xplane issue will be resolved.

Wait, you mean there's a 200$ simulation in which NZMF doesn't exist ? Which one is it ?

Why care when default X-Plane is already as good as perfected in that regarded?

But for anyone looking for some bonus giggles at others expense, check the XBOX and windows PC users complaint posts of NZMF on the Microsoft and OrbX forums.

Cos I did find why he was interested in how XP addressed its complexity

Signed off as wontfix 😂

Really was not expecting that much comedy in the followup.

Because you mentioned there was a sim which was 200 dollars and in which that airport was not available.

Obviously it's not MSFS because it costs the same price as XP and the airport is available in there, as you know already.

Wontfix ? Then what's the next World Update going to improve ?

Just trolling and spraying fake info as always, we know you by now 🙂

By the way, just because you once again posted something without reading what it is about, the actual problem was caused by a 3rd party product (OrbX mesh).

The "signed off as wontfix" doesn't sound as ridiculous as you anymore, does it ? 🙂

MSFS with a smaller default fleet and a few dozen hand crafted airports is $119

https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/store/microsoft-flight-simulator-premium-deluxe-40th-anniversary-edition/9pj15d3rdxmv

X-Plane 12 has been selling for £33.49 on steam sales.

->3 times the price.

You can fire up a heli on the helipads on NZMF in default MSFS now? News to me. still don't care though, wrong message to the wrong person in the wrong thread on the wrong forum.

Just had to go and have a look at NZMF - um I can see what the complaint is. Still have to admit this is the one and only scenery point that has such a obvious issue. This is 12.04b2.

There's a few of them. Apparently it's something to do with mesh having two nodes close to each other and one gets missed.

The long term fix will come when the scenery gets its full overhaul.

The super quick workaround is just to add

1302 flatten 1

to apt.dat in Global Scenery/Global Airports/Earth nav data

to any airports that have borken mesh (there used to be a checkbox option in general settings in XP11 to apply this to all airports, but they removed it in order to identify the problematic airports so they can actually get fixed)

Although for windows users, its probably easier to check the box in WED, trying to edit that file by hand on windows is a sure fire way to make windows explode.

Little bit jealous you will skip all the pain and just get to sit there staring at the scenery for hours with no idea of the abject torture we went through to make it possible.

Ah, you consider the sales prices ? Then, according to these two links:

https://steamdb.info/app/2014780/ and https://steamdb.info/app/1250410/

XPlane12 lowest price on Steam was indeed £33.49, while the MSFS lowest price has been £11.99

-> XP12 is three times the price of MSFS 🙂

I was referring to turbomax paying 3 times as much for a sim that didnt have what he had just posted. Not really that much opportunity for a misunderstanding there tbh.

Coulda, shoulda woulda.

Never bothered with any of the other sims.

MSFS-ception

CinemaAlMAXXI_Inception.jpg

Jokes aside, I like that sort of blooming effect in MSFS lighting. In RL, the contrast of objects against bright areas is indeed reduced or lost. I hope to see it implemented in XP some day.

There's a pinned thread over on the .org where you can report this issue directly to the dev who's fixing these issues:
https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/forums/topic/281383-which-global-airports-need-a-flatten-in-xp12/

Just have to post the airport ID.
