Two landings in 2 days-slide show.

Featured Replies

Just landed at DFW and from about 300 feet down, MSFS turned into a slide show. 2 seconds in between frames. Same thing happened yesterday going into Phoenix Intl. Makes it really difficult to judge the flare when that happens. Got to be a server issue. .

I've had that at Heathrow. It was the AI traffic bug where they all decide to have a meeting at one of the taxiways/runway turn off points.

DFW is so bad on performance that I've started using it as a stress-test for graphics settings.  When I built a new PC back in January I actually used DFW to tune the graphics while sitting at a gate and the advice I got from others on this forum really helped to get that airport in a working state, and after that I've had very little issues with stuttering on landing.  What fixed it for me was removing ground vehicles and the other periphery around the airports, which look nice but can apparently take a huge chunk out of performance.

If you want to read through the topic and try some of the stuff I tried, the link is here:

This really, really smoothed out a lot of the stutters without suffering any quality and my issues were primarily on short final and when the airport was starting to load stuff.  Give it a shot!!

Just to add that I too have had this slide show at airports phenomenon for the last little while. Seemingly since the last Windows update.

It's happened while landing (KSFO, EDDK payware airports) and taking off at EDDK. I was flying 739ER. I haven't trouble shot it yet, but suspect that it's maybe FSTraffic.

I've never seen this in the 2 years of MSFS, but it is troubling. The frames drop to <1.

Are you on dx12?  I had this everytime at DFW (and some other busy photogrammetry airports) until i switched back to dx11.  The fps drops were terrible on approach with dx12.

I have had it when first using the time acceleration in the 739. Switching off cache on arrival cured it.

Just a thought

it's again a server issue ongoing, bandwith low, no start or stutters. MS at it's best

I often wonder if MSFS servers suffer due to corporate customer prioritization.

i.e. throttling. 😉

maybe bandwith is needed for the chatGPT introduction?

Maybe even more aggessive than that like taking servers offline.

Corporate agreements specify a certain amount of uptime.  MSFS users don't have that luxury.

On the other hand I have to laugh at such posts because most days it takes me an hour to get into a flight while others I just give up.

I've played around with settings and they don't seem to affect this issue much. Disabled traffic, switched to DX11, turned down LOD and etc. My big guess is it is caused by the online component(s). There's a pulsing nature to the studders that hint at a network bottleneck. Also known as ickity-ick --- ickity-ick.

I had that on my first landing into the new KTPA. At some point before my next MSFS session, I power cycled my router because it seemed like my work connection was slow. All of my flights have been fine ever since (not counting some stutters due to the AI bug someone previously mentioned).

It may have been just a coincidence.

I see this a lot often most on the bigger Airports, my settings are realy moderate so don't know how to imrove it more, maybe i need a faster/better PC in the next future..

cheers 😉
