My post (just before yours) is relevant to 3000 and 4000 cards. FG doesn’t change how you should setup syncing.

Amazon are refunding me the full amount I paid for my 3090Ti and I am purchasing the 4090. I simply cannot wait to experience frame generation. From the videos I have watched and the posts I have read, FG is a game changer!

If you have a G-sync or similar display, v-sync is only relevant when FPS > max refresh rate. So turn v-sync off in NV CP and set your max FPS to 3-4 less than your display max refresh rate. That way FPS never exceeds max refresh and v-sync is not needed. G-sync will ensure a tear free image.

Without V-Sync on, I have a screen tearing. Tried locked at 56, 57 and 58.

V-Sync On mitigates the issue. Best combination for me apparently is VS On, Low Latency Mode Ultra and Max Frame Rate 58 (although, not needed really, works without too). Monitor tech is G-Sync compatible.

For the most part. There are situations where I notice there is a frame generation at work, mostly when panning the aircraft, artifacts appear only for a short moment and disappear again. But the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. I am also very happy that I decided to wait for the 4-series.

I have a 3090 and have no Vsync set in either in sim or Nvidia control Panel. I have a 55 inch Sony X90K that is Gsync compatible and run it at 100Hz so Vsync is not needed at all, I lock my frames to 45 with RTSS and also set a hotkey to disable the fps limiter on the fly should I need to allow my GPU to run at full tilt. Also in RTSS settings I set the front edge sync option and get very smooth results with complex aircraft like the Fenix or PMDG. Even if my fps drop to 35 for a brief period Gsync keeps things in check (I believe the lower limit for this TV is 20 fps) Sony's have excellent motion processing which is why I chose this model. I would say 95% of the time I hit a solid 45 fps with near zero frame time variance. I can go higher than 45 fps but this is the sweet spot for me as panning the camera is still smooth as is the sim and it gives my GPU some headroom when it is needed.

At his point I will probably stick with my EVGA FTW3 3090 until the 5xx series cards come out or when the 4090's start to drop.

If you have tearing with g-sync then it’s not working properly. That’s the whole point of g-sync is to eliminate tearing - it’s hardware v-sync.

I just started a chat with them and they set up a return label for me. As simple as that.

Mine is 11 months old, I don't think he can take it back... what did you tell them? just a refund? Or a fault on the board ?

Just that it doesn't perform as well as I thought it would (which is true). I bought it 6 months ago.

Hilarious. That would be nice to return the GPU once a year, get a full refund and buy a new one. I order a lot from Amazon, maybe I should try it 😄

I am now in the same boat and slightly lost: G-sync is buttersmooth but it starts to flicker some minutes into the game. Vsync on and fixed refresh and framerate results in stuttering. I use a 165Hz monitor, so far not found the ideal setup. Interestingly, I had no issues with the AMD card (6900XT) using Freesync, no flickering at all. Now with the 4080 it is a mess, although I absolutely love (and need) the frame generation feature, I am slightly disappointed. Any hints on what could work on my setup without using G-sync?

Do you have Oled display? Unfortunately after a research Oled panels have flickering with G-sync usage, and looks like a  hardware issue. Having the same flickering especially at night flights but with great smooth performance even in the most demanding airports/aircrafts
