April 27, 20233 yr With every new update to the FSLTL Base Package there are more and more fake airline textures (virtual airlines and fictional airlines) that most of us don't need but are forced to download and install. In my opinion, they should add this in separate package, but since they don't can anyone suggest a quick way of removing them all so the sim loads faster and with better performance? Or do i have to go through their livery list in the site and delete them one by one, which will be tiresome? Thanks. And some that fly virtual airlines, and fictional airlines probably requested them. It is probably a very small percentage, how much is that going to affect loading of the sim, 1 second?

According to the site, there are 1678 liveries with around 200 being virtual and fictional, which is more than 10%. Not a very small percentage to me. The impact will depend on the user system. Mine is old so I'll try everything I can to increase performance. I already converted all textures from 4096 to 2048 but I'm sure deleting all these useless (for me) textures will help more. April 27, 20233 yr As much as I'd remove them as well it won't improve load times by anything that we would notice, and certainly not improve performance. i7-13700KF, 32gb DDR4 3200, RTX 4080, Win 11, MSFS 2024
April 27, 20233 yr i don't get why they add this liveries by default people should add them manually due is easy to add than find them in all those folders and delete, and I pretty sure over 90% people don't gonna use cause only work for vatsim or fictional offline custom schedules.

It is what it is (and I wouldn't really advise messing around with the files given the way the installer works), but I have to agree that 10% fictional liveries is kind of a lot! Bit of a strange design decision, especially given how GOOD all the other design decisions FSLTL has made are.

You could double, triple or even quadruple the number of liveries and it would might increase load times by 10-15 seconds. Resizing textures shouldn't change load times, but it will improve vram usage. Personally, I use the AIG liveries with the FSLTL models where I can. 10,000+ liveries and counting so far, but I don't time my load times as it's within tolerance considering what it provides. i7-13700KF, 32gb DDR4 3200, RTX 4080, Win 11, MSFS 2024

By the same token, what about users that only fly in the US for instance, why are airlines that only fly in Europe or Asia included? I just can't get wound up over issues like this.

It's not real flight simming if we don't get wound up about the small stuff. 😁 I might get rid of them just for the space since I'm pretty limited in that department. April 27, 20233 yr I thought FSLTL was based on real world flight data. I wonder how that works with these virtual airlines. I don't think that removing these will have a noticable effect on loading times and perhaps even performance but for purists it would be nice if these fictional flights/liveries were optional, either to be excluded by editing the config file or through an optional package in the FBW installer. When I used AIG it added minutes to my load times (almost doubled it). I have the sim on HDD though, it would be probably less with SSD. 1 hour ago, Bones62 said: It's not real flight simming if we don't get wound up about the small stuff. 😁 I might get rid of them just for the space since I'm pretty limited in that department. Be advised that (according to whakamolenz in the FSLTL Discord) if you delete some textures you will have to use MSFS Layout Generator to rebuild the layout.json after deleting them.
