Looking at  the World Update XIV, it gets up to about 4.90 downloaded and then skips back to 4.15 GB   Done his 5 times already. 

 

Ah, finally made it past 5.0 Keeping fingers crossed.

World update was fine, but other packages i wanted to install just keep getting so far, then restart. I gave up for now.

No problems for me Bob.  I guess the servers are getting hammered.  Maybe try later or even tomorrow.

I am on the last GB now....

Well you still can.  The mandatory download is only about 1 gig.  The rest is in the marketplace.

Ah good news then! I do wonder if we will see an improvement on how they release updates on the 2024 version. With some luck the process will be a little better, with more stuff on the server side it may be a little easier.

For some maybe.  I have a relatively slow internet connection unfortunately, and it seems Open Reach and Virgin have given up on delivering fibre to my area. 

I am thinking of looking at Starlink.  It may be my only option, or 5G if they can hurry up on that as well!  

 

Had to finish myself downloading the most of the WU14 from the Content Manager directly, after "purchasing" via the Marketplace. The installation thorugh the Marketplace was almost impossible, with very-very low speeds and constant loops.

Yes, something very wrong with this patch, I click update I get "Decompressing asobo-airport-kord-chicago-ohare 0.1.54.fspatch", then nothing, have to CTRL ALT Delete to get back to desktop,   Edit 

I'm just gonna uninstall, then re-install

Yeah it ended up taking about 45 minutes for it to download in the end, I also got the loops. I am not sure if thats just how this one worked. Perhaps it was just displaying incorrectly. 

Anyway still couldn't get the sounds working on the Comanche afterwards! I'll go and leave a message on the tech support and see if that yields any success!

I really don't like the way the marketplace works.  I bought and started downloading the Aero 45 / 145.

About 80% through I had to wake my mouse and in doing so I accidentally clicked on the Aero 45 line again.  It took away the white tick and stopped downloading.

I thought 'no problem' and just applied the tick again.  Was the download cached? NO!  It started from zero again.  I quit MSFS, I turned the computer off, and went to bed. 

Whet the hell Asobo?  You have the dumbest download system in place.  Everyone else seems to use cached.  JustFlight, Simmarket, even Brave browser, but Asobo don't have it.     It's just as clucky as the rest of the menu system.

It really is a great sim, but some of it seems like a really half-assed job sometimes.

I held off buying a 4080 series card today, as it seems you need to use DX12 to implement frame generation.
I still have texture issues with DX12 (missing tiles at end of runways etc.), so I won't be going for it now.

Hopefully they will give DX12 another round of improvements and also get rid of the white dot / square around panels in the next SU as well. 
If not, you have to ask why they can't get on top of these issues.

I think the same about the Marketplace. In total I should have purchased two products there, no more, I simply don't like it. I think it's still cached, but sometimes the big files come in big chunks and when something bad happens it looks that everything is starting again and again. Weird

It was a slow update and even the Aero 145 took ages on what is theoretically a 500mbs line.

50 years ago I nearly flew the 145 as it was the cheapest twin available at Biggin Hill.

In the end I didn't bother and I'd hoped for rather more from this model to show me what I'd missed.

Flying the 145 over newly installed Central Europe seemed unreal with possible frame rate issues ; perhaps better luck next time after a restart.

Jonathon Beckett had problems at the end of his YouTube review flying the Aero around Prague. He was down to single figure framerates at one stage after he landed. 

So I will give it a try tonight as well if I can finally get the Aero downloaded.

Honestly, the marketplace would be better off outside the sim I think.  I have to wait three minutes for MSFS to load just to get into the marketplace.
