NEW-feature wish list for MSFS 2024

Recommended Posts

While I love everything on the list, and may even have a few of my own to throw in, I fear this it may just be a complete waste of time.  We have done this many times before.
Asobo have their own ideas and will go with what they want to do.

Although they do listen to the odd request, I really think they should just concentrate on delivering a solid core sim for us first - including properly working and optimised DX12, and fixing issues such as the swapping ground tiles and poor ground handling.  They need to get aircraft to take off and land similar to how A2A have achieved, as it is a totally unsatisfying sensation at the moment.

I think we will still have to use third party products for ATC and AI traffic as any Asobo improvements on these still won't satisfy our expectations - it's a lot of work and not easy to get right!

While the sim can be enjoyable to use in terms of content, we are still some way off after three years, and I fear 2024 will be just more graphics and content updates in the main.
All we can go on is the teaser video, and it seems to point towards that with no detail on better flight dynamics for example.
A video advertising a 'sim for simmers' would concentrate on that, not just the graphics and missions.
However, I do understand they need to make it attractive and accessible for Xbox users.

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

With how gorgeous the sim is we need a really decent replay system, yes I know we have the experimental version and some 3rd party tools but I want a decent inbuilt replay system to relive those awesome landings and approaches.

Oh and tower view and flyby pretty please.

Absolutely, and decent cameras to take the gorgeous shots!
I truly hate the "Fixed Camera" notion, you should be able to place it where you want, and zoom and track etc just like you would a camera in real life.
Everyone knows what it should do, why doesn't Asobo?
And adding to the replay: a logical way to add formation aircraft: any model where you want them, to do as instructed, and to replay at leisure.

The only thing I would like to count on is constant improvement.

Too many times we had to deal with regressions across sim and world updates, this is not acceptable. Every other game always improves with patches, sadly with MSFS we always dread every update as we know that most probably it will break new stuff or stuff that was fixed before.

So, even if FS2024 starts exactly where MSFS will leave, with n deficiencies and shortcomings, I only wish that their number decreases over time and what is fixed stays fixed.

Restrict ground vehicles from appearing on taxiways and runways.

An absolute must on the next version. v2020 was clearly constructed to ensure every ground vehicle immediately converge on you to block your escape route. If you dont have damage clicked to Off, you would never ever get onto the runway.

For me this 10-view limit for custom cameras is really limiting in larger aircraft so *please* increase it, or if for some reason you can’t then at least open the API up so that someone else can…

For the moment I have to ‘fudge’ the fixed camera files to give an extra 10 which is a real pain in the rear!

-runway not blurry on final.  Improve LODS for airport when on final.

-Runway lights that are not always on.  Also improved the quality of the lights themselves.

-Add an option to stop mouse cursor from hiding itself.

-improved ground handling

-cirrus clouds

-fix the PAPI's

-Restrict ground vehicles from blocking aircraft path

All the wishes and lists here just go to show you how broken MSFS actually is.

I hope they just introduce a stable working sim, without silly broken things like windsocks, how hard is it to get working windsocks?!

However I fear that instead, I’ll have birds flying and animals meandering around, all whilst the windsock blows the wrong way whilst the sky glows orange and the plane skids all over the ground with the poor ground handling.

scenery sim 2.0. I hope I am proved wrong and I can eat my words!

Hard core simmers should use either P3D or XPLANE even if neither P3D or XPLANE have everything needed, but compared to MSFS core features they are both superior to MSFS.

MSFS is for the gaming and sightseeing community.

MSFS 2024 will be even more geared to that same community.

Lol, please enlighten us more of your wise insights... I guess all those 70+% of the Hardcore Simmers ™️ who said on the Navigraph survey that they fly MSFS the most, and also said the two most important aspects of flight simulators for them are flight realism and realistic world depiction, they must've been flying another simulator then.

Regardless of how many times these comical narratives about MSFS are blathered about, still doesn't change reality ¯\_(ツ)_/ .. A reality almost all of the third party devs have caught on to in their decision to develop exclusively for this sim and its "gaming and sightseeing community" 😂

I am using this small addon for windsocks and it works well apparently: https://flightsim.to/file/14024/windy-things

Edit: it seems that these windsocks are items supposed to be used in scenery creation, so evidently I checked Asobo's windsocks that actually worked...

I agree on the animals BS, even more so if the implementation is like the current one: 4 giraffes, 2 hippos and 20 birds on the entire planet earth and you never see any animal unless you teleport to the specific location they're at. LOL

I cannot think of anything that would be manageable by the CPU and realistic at the same time.

It might be included in improved ATC, but I want pressure in millibar where appropriate, instead of Hg all over the world. If this is not corrected in MS2024 I won't get it.

There, I said it. That'll teach them! 😅
