Struggling with Tobii and my cockpit “position”

Featured Replies

I recently setup Tobii to replace Track IR.

However, every time I load in the sim (into the Kodiak) my view is either behind the seat head rest or inches from the glare shield. I ALWAYS have to use the keyboard to setup my view where it should be. I’ve tried saving my VFR cockpit view but that has no effect.

Has anyone else struggled with this and figured out a solution?

You need to press the Reset Head Tracking hotkey (I believe it is F12 as default) first.

F12 is solution. I use every time I walked out of PC and adjust my chair

F12 seems to do nothing for me either. It’s like the Tobii thinks my head is in the right place - but it’s not. I need to manually adjust it every time.

I have a button on my alpha to reset head tracking. First press gives an over the dashboard view and second press puts me in the correct pilot position.

Had this issue. Assign F12 key to "Eye tracking reset". Normally have to press it twice to get to your set viewpoint.

Exactly as @dean01c says.  Get yourself in a comfortable position, and press F12 twice.  Never had a problem.  I thought that was the default key setting unless something is conflicting with it?   All I do inside the sim is set up the sensitivity.

I normally just raise my head a little when pressing F12 twice, as it makes it easier to look down at the panels / centre console etc.  You will see.

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Hmm... I saw and followed that recommendation online yesterday when I was frustrated and it seemed to do nothing for me. I'll double check.

Covered in the first 5 minutes although the whole guide is worth a watch. Bought mine a month ago and it's a great addition to the sim imo. Hope this helps

You need to uninstall both TIR software and also the Naturalpoint driver and that will fix the issue. When first in the sim push F12 twice and you should be sitting where you want to be.

Good idea actually.  I used to have TrackIR, and I had to do this.

Thanks will do that.

ps. Why do you have to press F12 twice. That implies buggy to me.

I use the Tobii V5 and the advice given by various speakers is good. You just need to check which keyboard shortcut you have for the “Eye Tracking Reset” function. Then, via this shortcut you press it twice in a row as said previously.
NB: assigning a keyboard shortcut to “Toggle followed by head movements” allows you to activate/deactivate Tobii (very practical).

I don't want to create controversy but the Tobii V5 is really excellent compared to the Track IR. you can configure the "tracking" either via head movement or eye movement or both. I configured it for head movement only, which allows me to move my eyes for the notes and the keyboard without the screen moving.
