Frame generation... Hope it dies a quick death like 3D TV. Rather have 60 real frames than 60 real and 60 fake for "120".

I think you should move to 4k screens for a more immersive flying experience. I only say that because I would love to see you eat your own words as you watch your performance drop to the floor.

Not sure how true that is....

Honestly, I've been feeling a bit like the poor relation with my shy little 4070, when pretty much everyone else on the forum seems to be grabbing 4090's.....

That may say something about how much even simmers enjoy their eye-candy.

I have no idea how people even afford the latest graphics cards. I have no alternative but to stick with my GTX 980Ti (which has performed admirably in my i5 7600k powered system from yesteryear)

As you’re running at QHD resolution (2560*1440) you have no need for a 4090. Those who run at 4K will certainly benefit from its extra power.

True. The huge increase in pixels will surely benefit from increased GPU power.

I know how it performs, my father runs a 4k monitor on a 5900X and used to have a Radeon 6900XT. He has a 4090 now, it improved smoothness considerably, we have seen FG and DLSS operating and i maintain what i said. It needs to die because of everything it represents.

If people like to embrace this type of technology it's up to them, the simulator looks way better with TAA and by means of a GSYNC monitor there's no need to fake frames to have a magnificent experience. I've seen a lot in my 30+ years dealing with computers and i am in a position where i know what i want and can easily filter redundant stuff.

Want to go out and buy a 13900 plus 4090 and a 1500w PSU? By all means go ahead. Do you need it? Hell no, but if i say this in this forum, i am a poor guy with no money who can't afford it and i am missing out. Fun times these.

Happy flying and give my regards to your energy provider.

QHD has 3.686 million pixels. 4K (UHD) has 8.294 million. An increase of 225%.

No CPU can run the 4090 at full potential in anything test have shown even at 4K. And with CPU limited Games it`s worse the CPU cannot pass the data fast enough as it`s still the boss Central Processing Unit.

And frame generation is especially useful in cpu bound scenarios

As P3D cannot support frame generation that doesn’t apply.

My point would be that P3D and it's users would likely benefit from incorporation of that technology into the sim.

It isn’t possible whilst the ESP engine is utilised. LM would have to create a new simulator and that would mean no backward compatibility.

Now that's intriguing. My understanding was that frame generation essentially only required the gpu to be "trained" on a particular program, and then it should/can then work, and that Amd's version of the tech might not even require that...

Is that so? Over the years, LM has made multiple changes to P3D, e.g. DX12. Who says it couldn't be used with, say, a coming V6 sub-version?

I can't remember where I read it. If it was possible it would have made sense for LM to work with GPU manufacturers to integrate it.

There were unsubstantiated reports than P3Dv7 would be a brand new sim probably with a new name. That's the extent of my knowledge.

MSFS is also built on the same legacy code as P3D, ASBO confirmed this in the first press interview starting from scratch would have added 3 or more years to the development. Phil wanted it on the Game Pass XBOX ASAP.
