To those experiencing issues.  Are you attempting to update through xBox app or MS Store app?  If so, try rebooting your computer and simply starting MSFS.  I was going to fly this morning just after 1500Z and when I started MSFS I was notified of what appeared to be some small updates of some kind.  I noted my version as 1.34.16.0 and mentioned that in the original post of this topic.  The updates had completed in a bit more than a blink of an eye, and took place with a normal start of MSFS.  OK. I had no idea at that time that I had updated to SU13.

So then I flew.  Later in the day, after reading topics here, I went looking for SU13, starting the Microsoft Store app and xBox app.  I saw no updates available.  From the xBoz app I started MSFS.  It froze forever of checking for updates.  After 30 minutes I surrendered and used task manager to end MSFS.  An hour later I tried again.  Same result.  The I read here that SU13 is version 1.34.16.0.  The version I had identified I had at 1500Z earlier today.

Try rebooting and simply starting MSFS to see if it loads and to confirm the version.  If you are full screen you will need to use Alt-Ent to exit full screen and will see the version number at the top left of the screen.

1.34.16.0

error code: (0xc0000005) on initial splash screen after 40 seconds and crashes every time.

no update shows in MS store or Xbox app

Update: Opended the insider app and incredibly the 'preview' radio button was showing on for the SU13. Obviously NOT in the preview. Unchecked it, and voila going back to the Xbox app and it starts downloading an update!

I get the same error's and CTD's. Still can't find a fix on my end...

This would be funny if it wasn't so pathetic - went to content manager for SU13 content updates and selected "World Update II: USA".

3 guesses for what the first download was...YOU'RE WRONG...it was microsoft-airport-vhhx-kaitak-1.0.3.fspatch

Can't make this stuff up!

Okay, after this content update NO MORE for about a month until MS gets serious - this has to be a joke, right?

If MSFS used torrent to update like DCS issues like this would not be. Time for MS to pony up.

Absolutely pathetic. They need to stop the mandatory update till the issue is fixed.

or  release  it  stages  around  the  regions  of  the  world,  would  stop the  servers  being  flooded 🙂

I don't think bandwidth is the issue for Microsoft. Something else is at play I'd say.

time  will tell i guess,  when this  all  blows over  till the  next  update

I guess my anger is clouding my judgement...ends up there were updates running that I hadn't scrolled down far enough to see. At the same time, I don't understand why those content updates were running when I never selected them.

yep guess i check  that  when and  if  i  get  to  that  stage of  the  update,  still  downloading  2 hours  in  and  another  4  to go i say  the  way  its  going.  Dont  know  if  i  pause  it  and  continue  it  another  day  or  just bite  the  bullet  and  let  the  rest of  the  day  to download  it 🙂
