Night time lighting and textures completely off

Featured Replies

Yeah that's normal for photogrammetry areas

They don't have very good light maps

I wonder what the plans are for msf2024 regarding the night flying experience.. because currently night flying is terrible.

Interesting. I remember buying multiple lighting add-ons for another flight sim and it still wasn't as good as what MSFS achieves and at such negligible performance impact.

There's room for improvement, no doubt. Yet, the difference compared to what we had is like (sorry) night and day.

Totally agree on this.

The nightlighting is way better than what we had before.

I'm in agreement too in regards night flying being absolutely fine. I've had some memorable night flights into Chicago, Tokyo and Mexico City for example and can't see how those flights could've been improved. Makes me wonder if people are using the same sim as me?

I think the OP may be referring more to the building lights..??  I agree they are not great and it is related to the photogrammetry buildings.  The default airport lighting is also not good and they lack flood lights so it will always be very dark at those airports..  There is an addon somewhere that will add more lighting to the default airports.

Yes, the OP has a texturing issue that is separate to the general idea that night flying is terrible.

I believe the night lighting mod you speak of is done by andres3d on Flightsim.to

I don't fly much at night, but last night I flew the 737 from Nashville to Detroit. It looked fantastic. I decided I am going to fly at night more often.

the problem with lights in msfs is that big city downtowns are always off if you don't use a addon to improve than  specially the photogrammetry cities use a bad way to add light to buildings by default  they should use better night textures in msfs 2024

I’m not here saying that it’s not better than older sims. I’m saying that it’s got further potential, now apparently we can’t discuss it but the ones who were in it back then also know.

It looks good at lower altitudes with room for improvement but it definitely doesn’t look as good at higher altitudes.

The whole night environment has gone down hill since initial release.

The lighting effects, the ludicrous and completely unnecessary road lighting and the lack of realistic airport lighting.

Fingers crossed for 2024…
