This week’s Screenshot Challenge winner is Twitter/X user ukaka5656! If you’re interested in participating in our weekly Screenshot Challenges, check out the details in the Community section below!

We released a new pre-release test build (1.35.15.0) for the Sim Update 14 beta on Monday. You can read the release notes on our forums here. If you would like to enroll in the beta test (available for PC/MS Store, PC/Steam, and Xbox Series X|S), you can find instructions here.

Earlier today, we released an update (available from Content Manager) for Famous Flyer 7: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries MU-2. You can read the release notes here.

Our next Developer Livestream is scheduled for Wednesday, November 29 at 10:30am Pacific Standard Time (1830 UTC) on our official Twitch channel. Thank you to everyone who submitted questions in advance! We are currently reviewing all your submissions and tabulating the most commonly-asked questions.

While our panel will only be addressing serious questions during the livestream, we appreciated some of your more humorous submissions! There was one question in particular that we wanted to answer early. To the person who asked us to state the airspeed velocity of an unladen Cessna: according to the Pilot’s Operating Handbook, the Cessna 172 has a never exceed speed of 163 knots, a cruise speed of 122 knots, and a maneuvering speed of 90 knots (at 1900 lbs gross weight). We hope this adequately answers your question!

Please note that there will not be a Marketplace update next week (Thursday, November 23). This date is the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States, so most of the team will be out of office spending time with their families. The next Marketplace update will be on Thursday, November 30.

COMMUNITY FLY-IN FRIDAY

Community Fly-In: Nordics. Friday 17th November 2023 at 19:00z. www.twitch.tv/msfsofficial

Last week, we released World Update XV: Nordics & Greenland! There’s just so much to see in this new update that we’re flying not one but two different flight plans this week! Participants will have their choice of either a flight in Iceland OR a flight in Sweden and Norway. Both options feature stunningly beautiful natural scenery, bespoke airports, and new hand-crafted points of interest. There’s no wrong decision here; both flight plans are great! You can even fly one route during the livestream and then fly the other one at another time of your convenience.

Regardless of which flight plan you choose, be sure to download the free World Update XV from the in-sim Marketplace!

Event details are available here. All are welcome to participate!

TUBELINER TUESDAY

Tuberliner Tuesday: World Update XV. November 21st at 1900Z. Watch at twitch.tv/msfsofficial

Following on from the Nordic themed Community Fly-In Friday stream, Chewwy94 will return with another episode of Tubeliner Tuesday! Departing Ivalo Airport (EFIV) in Finland, and heading westbound to Leknes Airport (ENLK) in Norway, don’t forget to bring your woolly hat and gloves! Chewwy will be flying this flight in the Cessna Citation Longitude on the VATSIM Multiplayer Network.

Event details are available here. Feel free to follow the flight on our Twitch channel!

COMMUNITY VIDEO

Have you ever wanted to know how pilots conduct a walkaround before flight? Well 320 Sim Pilot has just the video! Having recently switched from flying the Airbus A320 fleet to the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, 320 Sim Pilot goes through the process of ensuring your aircraft is fit to fly by performing an external visual inspection.

We’d like to congratulate 320 Sim Pilot on their new type rating and hope they enjoy flying the Dreamliner!

A320N and SR22T wishlist sections now say they're aiming for the 'next flighting update' instead of just 'upcoming'.

If they keep up the pattern of the last 3 beta updates, then that would be Monday.

Sorry but you will get the SR22 to test but not the Inibuilds A320N in beta.

I'm on the inibuilds Discord, they've haven't said anything. Whenever it's brought up they ask people to talk to microsoft about it.

Flighting is Microsoft's term for testing phase. it's not a promise it will be in the next beta update, just that they're working to include it.

Agreed... iniBuilds certainly have not said the neo will only come with the SU14 release, this is the latest they've said on their discord in the "Aircraft" #discussion channel:

Nenu — Yesterday at 16:25
Are we going to see previews of the A320neo before SU14?

I saw in the dev update they would like to try to get it in for a SU14 beta

The use here and and in the flight sim world generally of the term 'Quality of Life' really makes my haemorrhoids twitch. I've been familiar with the expression in the extreme when the 'quality of life' of severely handicapped people or severely brain-damaged babies is being assessed, perhaps with a view to switching off life support or paying large sums in compensation. More generally it describes how people feel about their personal circumstances, their standard of living, health, freedom from danger etc. But to describe user interface improvements, for example one click instead of two, as 'quality of life' improvements, really is self-indulgent and trivialising in the extreme. We should ask the person with Motor Neurone Disease or trying to provide for their family on a semi-flooded island in Bangladesh what they think of the average flight simmer's 'quality of life' for a sense of proportion.

🤦‍♂️I think it's blatantly obvious that the Quality Of Life meaning in software terms is very very different to that used by the medical profession.
