Postage from China to the UK is cheap. That's how China incentivises so many purchases to the UK. I think someone is being opportunistic here. I've bought packages the size of this unit/box from China before that only cost £15 and came with free shipping! The rest is sales tax (and surcharges for collecting it) that they need to collect because by UK law, the Kickstarter pledge is viewed as a sale. Shipping to the US, which doesn't collect sales tax on the pledge, is only 31 dollars. For the UK, they have a postpaid tax option, where you do the tax clearance procedures yourself, avoiding the tax collection surcharge and reducing the shipping cost to about 63 pounds. Still a lot of money, but about half of this is made up by the sales tax.
