Frame generation for all RTX cards

Hey Noel, if you're trying this what adjustments, if any, are you making to your frame rate settings in RTSS in regards to keeping FRV down?

You shouldn't use RTSS, only NVCP frame limiter...

Sure? RTSS works in my setup...

I tried with both Freesync on and off. No issues.

I don't, but I know Noel does and was interested in how using this mod affected his settings in regards to his FRV findings. I set NVCP to 30 fps myself as that value gives me totally fluid, smooth and stutter free flights. So if I were to adopt this mod I would need to set NVCP frame limiter to 60 fps to achieve the same results is what I think the advice is.

So Nvidia's claim that only 40 series card are hardware equipped for FG to work was a scam, i'm not surprised, they are a shady company, I will never buy a Nvidia card again, I will probably upgrade to an 7900 XTX for MSFS 24.

BTW, are V-Sync necessary with a Free-Sync or G-Sync monitor with this mod?

I had to turn V-Sync on in NCP to eliminate tearing with a 60hz Free-Sync monitor.

I have a GSYNC monitor at 144 Hz and setting VSYNC on or off didn't seem to make any difference.

Nvidia works just as good as RTSS since a long time now.

I've used them both now:  NVCP limited to 60 w/ RTSS limiter off, as well as NVCP set to 1000 instead of 60, with RTSS limiter on or off, and they all work, in fact they all work the same except one can in realtime adjust the max rate w/ RTSS.  Unfortunately all of these methods involve visual artifact and as mentioned if I move my mouse pointer to my second screen frame rate tanks on the main display.  I've uninstalled the mod for now and see if these things eventually are resolved as I already have ultra smooth, stutter-free performance sans artifacts, so it's currently a net loser here.

Made several flight tests. Quite surprise it works with my 3080 and no CTD... so far. But I have these artefact:

L2hgPvf.jpeg

VSYNC OFF on MSFS, VSYNC ON on NVIDA Control Panel (and Frame limiter to 30 in NCP). If you have some idea 😉 I continue to experiment but I'm ready to move back to a "normal" setup with DX11 (and obviously no Frame Generation) as DX12 brings some textures issue.

By the way, love the log files that clarify some stuff:

Then you must be running the game under the Free-Sync threshold at 48 fps, if you are locking at 30 fps I understand you need it.

So you have tearing and artefacts regardless?

Anyone else randomly getting this error which is causing MSFS to crash?

Did you manage to fix it or find the reason!?

Nope, default is here:

C:\XboxGames\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Content

It depends when you installed MSFS on your system. Very early installs went into the WindowsApps folder later installs used the XboxGames directory. That's why I had to move it.

Ahh, I've installed 3x w/ the most recent this time last year.

That looks like a graphics card (driver) time-out. I had these frequently in DX12, CTD's or even a complete shutdown of the computer once. Lowering settings could help but I reverted back to DX11 and never experienced this happening again.

edit: I had the same MS warning and advice pop-up.

Okay, so this is a no go for me right now, as I'm getting some visual artifacts when I need to pop up a menu, plus some terrain oddities that I think are caused by having to use DX12. (I am not going to reduce terrain resolution). I will continue to monitor the development of this mod and may try it again at a later date. I am genuinely happy for all those users who are finding a benefit in this.
