Frame generation for all RTX cards

Featured Replies

In my First test it seemed that the frame limit worked

60 FPS and freesync on constant 60fps

But quite a bit tearing.

Next test 60 FPS cap  and feesync off.

Frames jump all over the place from 60-130

Just did the quick test at Chicago Airport on the ground. Displays where sharp word not allowed allways due to dsr.

Installation was quite easy. The Registration was the longest part

  • Really? It's night and day difference. I'm testing the mod right now, on my "old" 3090, and I get a steady 60 fps, with PMDG 737-800, parked at FSDT KORD, at 5120x1440 32:9, I barely hit 40 befor

  • I'm testing this right now and my mind is blown.  I now understand why all the hype about FG.  3080ti, 4K, mostly high/ultra settings and have been pegged at 60FPS on first test flight in the Fenix.

  • I was one of the people who basically ordered an RTX 4000 series card only because of Frame Generation. And FG is really impressive.  Now I'm glad everyone gets to participate in that experience.

So you have tearing and artefacts regardless?

No tearing but some artifacts.  Will try with DX11 and see if that looks any better.  I may give TAA a go whist I am at it.

Frame Generation doesn't work in DX11.

Haha - yes, I just found that out and restarted in DX12.  Tested TAA and got a load of stutters but DLLS quality was super smooth.

I wonder if it is worth testing in conjunction with DRS - has anyone done that?

Is anyone having problems using this mod with the Fenix A320?

If I load the Fenix A320 with FG turned on, the MSFS freezes after a few seconds after clicking 'ready to fly'. And if I load it with FG turned off, as soon as I activate it in the settings, MSFS freezes.

Exactly the same issue. I'm going to reinstall the fenix a320 and let you know if i fix.

Edit: reinstalled the aircraft but nothing has changed.

Quite the opposite here. 4-5 flights in the FBW and 1 with the Fenix and no issues with the planes per se

I've had a bit of time now to try this out and it is truly amazing to 60fps on the RTSS overlay on the ground at KLAX with lots of traffic. After taking one complete flight from KSEA to CYVR I'd conclude that thus far my previous method of using the frame interpolation on the Samsung 4KTV I use for a display is a better method of achieving high smooth frame rates. Up until the DymanicLOD app I was getting 46 smooth FPS on screen using that method and now with DymanicLOD its 60 smooth FPS. With the FSR3 hack I am seeing the 60FPS but they are not smooth. Even though the 60fps is steady and if I try it without Vsync its more like 80+ FPS so a bit of Overhead. Previously I always found the in game Vsync to work perfectly and recall NCP vsync to be not that great. Maybe this is the difference I am noticing. I'll continue to iron out the wrinkles and I'm sure this will develop further but. Pros vs Cons right now Smart TV frame interpolation has this beat by a country mile. I don't know how this compares to the 4000 series FG but I know 4000 series FG suffers some of the same thing like for example the sim has to be in focus for it to work. I don't have that issue with TV frame interpolation.

The one thing I did want to try is to use FG and Frame interpolation combined so I tried that!🤣 And despite what I had heard Turning on Frame interpolation had no detrimental effect on the image quality or introduced any new artifacts or worsened the already present stutters. The maximum refresh rate frame interpolation works at on my TV is 50hz so RTSS was displaying 50fps but the TV doubles the Frame rate with Frame interpolation for 100fps on screen on the ground at KLAX in the PMDG 737.

If I can or later release can get ride of the stutters I've got it made!🤪

Does anybody with a multi monitor setup (using multiple rendered windows via Experimental) know if this is applying frame generation to multiple windows? Or is it as per NVIDIAS frame generation, only the main windows (which must also be in focus)?

Cheers

Hi,

Tried it, it dropped my frames down to 24.

I don't think this is what you're after, but I use a 2nd screen, but it's not connected to my DisplayPort output to my main screen for MSFS, it's connected to the video output on the mainboard.  W/o this mod there is no problem making the 2nd screen active (by moving the mouse over to it, set up as an extended display)--does not impact performance/frame rate on the main display.  With this mod active, if I make the 2nd screen active frame rate on the main display dumps big time.

I've seen enough. The stuttering when panning is a deal breaker for me. My panning with TrackIR is all but perfectly smooth using TV frame interpolation at 60fps on screen.

Although I maintained 60fps throughout my test flight with this FG hack and so long as I am not panning is it virtually perfectly smooth with no tearing as soon as I turn on TrackIR and move my head the stutters start. They are not the worst stutters I've ever seen but they are jarring enough for me to pass on this despite some interesting pros. I also notices that neither my CPU of GPU are maxed out. I still have some overhead at 60fps. Also the shimmering of the ATC window etc. when panning is terrible is terrible.

I know that these two are related since when TrackIR is disabled the MSFS overlays don't shimmer at all. Neither is there any stuttering. I've also noticed that the overlay shimmering and the stuttering seem to have the same frequency. I don't think the algorithm can handle that kind of movement. Just a guess. BTW you can combine FG in this case with TV frame interpolation without any degradation as I've seen it. At 50hz I see 50fps with FG and my 4KTV has no issues turning this into 100fps on screen!

I'll try 0.6 later today to see it that helps but I'd be shocked if they manage to take care of this that quickly.

I run a 4090 with a 55" Sony X90K (Gsync compatible) I have the refresh rate set at 4K 100Hz and with FG I get a solid 97FPS, especially now with the adaptive LOD utility I am having my best experience ever. Yes if you bring another window into focus the sim is not smooth but for me it's not an issue as I run all my planning tools and Navigragph on another PC so MSFS is always in focus 100% of the time.

My experience:
Didn't work at all although everything was correct installed.
Was still running 516.94 drivers (they are the best 5xx.xx drivers i found so far) but they don't give the FG option in MSFS.
Installed the latest 546.33 and then the FG setting showed in the menu (replaced the drivers again with 516.94 and the FG option disappeared again so that was certainly a driver thing).
With everything installed and 546.33 drivers and FG set to ON FPS directly went up together with quite a few anomalies/artifacts + TrackIR panning was not smooth. Quite a few of these artifacts where visible in the menus.
Tried capping FPS at various values, some artifacts disappeared but then others showed up. Sometimes no artifacts at all but then some stutter.
Setting VSync On ingame instead of in NCP as a test was certainly a no go and made anomalies and artifacts a lot worse.
Compared to the smooth ride i had with DX11 without FG, a capped FPS generating a fixed FPS and some overhead + 516.94 drivers this mod simply isn't good enough.

Ah, I wouldn't say that. Going from 0.5 to 0.6 I've definitely noticed an improvement. The shimmering in the MSFS overlays is less and the stutters panning are less too. It does however completely mangle the landing gear on the ground in the external view which isn't that big a deal and there artifact when deploying and retracting landing gear too. And you can use it with 4KTV frame interpolation at 50hz for 100fps on screen. Given the choice between using this mod for 60fps on screen or TV frame interpolation for 60fps on screen at this point I'd definitely go with the later mainly because there are no TrackIR panning stutters. (that's with my own custom TrackIR profile which took a bit of work and tweaking). However, if this MOD or the official support when it arrives gets to a point where it is as smooth in panning on its own as my TVs frame interpolation on its own is, I'll definitely be combining the two. That would mean that at as long as the GPU is making at least 25fps with FG off, when I turn FG on and TV frame interpolation on I'll be getting 100fps on screen for these 25 real rendered frames. Someone one really let the cat out of the bag here! Nvidia must be freaking out. I'm sure the RTX5090 target market was the 3090 hold outs and below!🤣

I just completed my first flight using this. KDEN-KLAS in the PMDG 737-800. I noticed zero negative affects from this mod. Visually, everything is just as crisp and sharp as it always was
(DLSS SR + DLAA), but now it runs as smooth as silk as well. I didn't check it with any sort of frame counter (as usual for me in MSFS - I vowed to never look at it like I always did in prior sims) but the difference is abundantly clear.

I am quite upset with Nvidia at the moment. My system has a EVGA 2080Ti 12Gb Black Edition card in it that is just under 5 years old. It's pretty dang apparent that the only reason that they didn't activate FG for the RTX 2XXX users was to get us to buy a new card.

What about when panning with mouse or using TrackIR?
