Frame generation for all RTX cards

Featured Replies

So for you guys who are not experiencing stutters when panning, do you get a heavy shimmering type artifact on MSFS overlays like the ATC window when its on screen and you are panning?

  • Really? It's night and day difference. I'm testing the mod right now, on my "old" 3090, and I get a steady 60 fps, with PMDG 737-800, parked at FSDT KORD, at 5120x1440 32:9, I barely hit 40 befor

  • I'm testing this right now and my mind is blown.  I now understand why all the hype about FG.  3080ti, 4K, mostly high/ultra settings and have been pegged at 60FPS on first test flight in the Fenix.

  • I was one of the people who basically ordered an RTX 4000 series card only because of Frame Generation. And FG is really impressive.  Now I'm glad everyone gets to participate in that experience.

Whilst frames are double it's not a very stable experience for me especially when looking around in the cockpit, I see stutters, hesitations etc, maybe the 4 serious has some hardware to complement this and make it stable,be interesting to see where this goes

Same, and having tested it on a few different contexts I've come to the difficult decision to park it for now😅

As you say, frames are doubled but they're not buttery smooth for me. The stutters (I'm not sure if that's technically the right term with interpolated frames but that's what they feel like) and ghosting are more noticeable in some contexts than others, but they're usually there to some degree. This leads to the feeling that the experience isn't 'solid', and offers lots of opportunity for my OCD to be triggered. Just out of curiosity, are 4-series owners using FG seeing totally solid, buttery smooth performance?

Anyway, excellent work from the dev showing we might be able to achieve with software what Nvidia swore to us was only possible with hardware. I guess as it's open source and the dev has also added dev overlays, maybe some savvy MSFSer can tweak it specifically for us?

BTW, has anyone used this with Cyberpunk? If so is the FG solid there? I've had the game in my Steam library for over a year now and was planning to finally start it over the hols...😅

I have Frame Gen ON and using DLAA, but there is some noticeable screen tearing in the cockpit.

I have an Adaptive Sync monitor and GSync Compatible is ticked in the Nvidia Control Panel.

With Frame Gen ON - the FPS count displayed is Higher than the Max Refresh Rate.

Is it needed to limit the Max FPS ?

No.
Actually less shimmering than with non FG driver.
3090Ti, DLSS set on "Quality", 5120x1440, no framerate limit set

So, to state the obvious…what ever fps you are seeing in a Msfs fps indicator like shift-z,  you’re really getting twice that number. Sweet.

FYI - I actually did limit my FPS in Nvidia Control Panel to the Monitor Refresh Rate and this pretty much fixed the tearing artifacts while panning in the cockpit.  This sim is Rock Solid now!

I was just getting ready to try that. I have got it to work successfully i.e. without MSFS overlays such as ATC window shimmering and stuttering when panning with TrackIR but not a 60hz. It's worked for at 24hz, 30hz and 50hz once. I really think based on other peoples experience with the same hardward that it is just a matter of finding the correct setting to fix this Issue. It's not a limitation of the hardware or the software so I'll continue to investigate it until I figure out why its not delivering smooth panning for some. For what its worth The Stuttering and lateral tearing of the MSFS Overlays such the ATC window and the stutter that occur when panning is have the same cause. When one goes away the other goes away too. And as above I have achieved this at refresh rates other than 60hz

No joy for me. Stutter city. Happy for those that achieved!

I’m wondering if GSync is any factor at all?

If the fps delivered by frame gen is above what your monitors max refresh rate is then your gonna have tearing because your outside of your monitors gsync range.

looks like you have figured it out. Enjoy

Yes, you should limit your fps in NCP three frames under your monitors refresh rate.

Just turning on HAGS produced amazing results for me.  LouP

I tried the hack, and while FSR worked to double actual frame rate the ghosting was substantial and in addition I got a bit of flicker looking out to the sides, so I uninstalled it for now.  BUT....I inadvertently forgot to turn HAGS off and left DX12 enabled only to discover even better total performance even at my default 35FPS locked thru RTSS front edge sync.  Not a SINGLE stutter anywhere from gate to gate LFMN to EGLL in the PMDG, all ultra, absolutely 100% flawless.   I was close to that before, but the odd niggle would creep in on approach now again, or while turning abruptly during taxi, typically.  That was absolutely gone with HAGS on so a great discovery, I had no idea!

When all's said and done for me, as always what matters far more than ultra high frame rates are ultra smooth panning and animation with an acceptable frame rate, which for me remain 34-35.  When that doubled w/ FSR enabled, to 68-70, the difference is of course very visible during rapid panning.  But even then, rapid panning already was excellent.  So the doubling is definitely valued and it will nice to have when it's w/o graphic artifacts, but it's truly minor when you already have ultra smooth, completely stutter-free a the highest settings.

You must have not done something correctly. You need to set a FPS cap in the NVCP MSFS profile of 60. Assuming you’re not using Gsync or similar, this would be your monitor’s refresh rate (60Hz). Do not use Afterburner for this or it will cause flickering and stuttering. Secondly, you need to enable Vsync in the NVCP. Not “fast,” not “adaptive,” just select “on.”

Yes here. But so far I can live with that, don’t have it open much
