Frame generation for all RTX cards

Featured Replies

also, how many frames do you get in this particular situation without fg? it might be just that you initial frame rates are too low, so you get like 50% real frames and %50 generated, which might have that ghosting effect. Try maybe setting everything to 60 if you monitor support that.

Initially used NVCP max rate of 60, so real rate of 30.  Then got rid of the NVCP max rate, restarted MSFS, and used my default RTSS with real rate of 35 and doubled to 70, no impact on ghosting.  But again that was w/ Gsync enabled and monitor 100hz.

I'll know shortly if NVCP 60, no Gsync, and monitor 60hz makes a difference in ghosting.

  • Really? It's night and day difference. I'm testing the mod right now, on my "old" 3090, and I get a steady 60 fps, with PMDG 737-800, parked at FSDT KORD, at 5120x1440 32:9, I barely hit 40 befor

  • I'm testing this right now and my mind is blown.  I now understand why all the hype about FG.  3080ti, 4K, mostly high/ultra settings and have been pegged at 60FPS on first test flight in the Fenix.

  • I was one of the people who basically ordered an RTX 4000 series card only because of Frame Generation. And FG is really impressive.  Now I'm glad everyone gets to participate in that experience.

35 is very low. I've got impression that fg is working as it should when initial frame counts is at least 50 fps.

Maybe for the hack, but untrue otherwise. Using the native frame gen, my FPS drop to as low as 28, and it doubles the frame rate. 56 FPS looks like 56 FPS.

lol, the irony that amd card owners do not have this mod. but I am happy for Nvidia owners, will wait till msfs brings official FSR3.0

Trust me from the way this thread is going it appears that the solution we have is a bit better than this hack at the moment. I'm sure everyone will have some sort of in game frame gen eventually but I personally would not swap the driver level implementation that AMD uses for its cards for this hack at this point.

No not the hack It works fine at 30hz. We should be careful to remember that this is not Nvidia FG here. It's AMD FSR 3 on Nvidia cards. Where I am having issues is at refresh rates over 30hz. I'll be very happy if I get to 50hz trouble free. Working on it!😁

30Hz?! There's be no reason to use this if you're stuck at 30Hz LOL. I'm sure you could maintain 30 FPS with no issues. You'd effectively be running the sim at 15 FPS!

That's right, and if one can sustain 50 in all scenarios this hack is hardly needed quite frankly.  IMO the obsession with high frame rates is vastly overrated.  When you have ultra smooth animation w/o a single stutter into airports like EGLL in any plane going from 35FPS to 70FPS adds only a little to the total experience, and for me I KNOW this for a fact because I can set rate to 60 plus in modest planes/airports and the difference really isn't that compelling.  Honestly, I don't believe the vast majority here have witnessed ultra low FTV at modest frame rates, hence are overly sucked in by high frame rates be it from RTX 4000 FG or this new hack which helps obscure poor frame time variance.

I followed the prescribed method here, and same same only worse and that is with a reboot:  ghosting, and now even tearing.  Here's what I did:  monitor 60Hz, max rate 60 in NVCP, Gsync off, RTSS sync off.  Oh, and this is awful as well:  my second screen setup as an extended display off of the video output from the mainboard:  whenever I interact with it frame rate on the main screen tanks bigtime--this only happens w/ this hack enabled.

I just enabled Gsync, which got rid of the tearing, but the ghosting is severe, and when I pan there is flickering still.  Not ready for prime time.

If you use a G-Sync monitor you should lock 3 fps under your monitors refresh rate in NVCP, but that is only needed if your fps is higher than your monitors refresh rate, and no V-sync, that's how it's done with Nvidia FG anyway.

There are pro's to running the sim at 15fps for me. The FSR hack works perfectly at 30hz but not above and I get 30fps out of the GPU from the 15 rendered frames so half the load on the hardware (+ whatever load FSR adds). Then the frame interpolation on my 4KTV turns that 30fps into 60fps. So I'm effectively getting a frankly unbelievably smooth 60fps on screen. Could I already do this before the hack? Yes but it required 30 rendered frames from the GPU not 15 and pre DymanicLOD I wasn't always getting the required 30fps. Sometimes it would drop to as low as 20 on the ground but never below 15. Hopefully I'll get this hack working at 50hz then all I'll need for 100fps on screen is 25 rendered frames per second. I've been told this can't be done but who am I going to believe? Them? Or my own lying eye!🤔

Thanks, but I'm done with it for now I've spent a few hours already with various theories on what works and it's DOA for me, too many substantial issues.

Cheers

I know your feeling, I gave up Nvidia FG because of DX12 horrendous VRAM usage and graphics anomalies, you should try the LOD hack with DX11 instead, made all the difference for me.

Wow, and I think we have similar screens, 3440x1440?  Graphics anomalies with NV FG too?  Ouch

I only have 12Gb to work with and in DX12 which I prefer I always seem to stay under that and am not having stuttering at all now.

Asobo are going to need to fix the VRAM issues in the current DX12 beta before I see 20 or 30 series card owners (excluding 3090) jumping into this full on.  I guess if you are running 1080 or even 1440 then the VRAM issues might not be so prevalent.  By default most 20 and 30 series card owners have less VRAM than 40 series owners and will therefore have more issues with DX12 in MSFS than they will have with this mod or FSR3 when officially supported.  In 4k with a 3080ti 12GB I have to dial settings down quite a bit due to VRAM exceedance with DX12.  Sure a locked 60 FPS is great but if I dialed those same settings down in DX11 I'm knocking on the 60 FPS door anyway.  Maybe if you have a monitor that supports >60hz and you want every possible frame, then DX12 reduced settings with FSR3 might be a tradeoff you would take.

I know in XP12 I have zero VRAM issues with Vulcan in 4k and they still plan on optimizing VRAM usage further in the next release.  I wish Asobo would focus on that a little more.

I have to disagree.

35fps may look fine on its own, but how many can maintain that with full traffic, perhaps dozens of AI planes going everywhichway; taxiing.... ground vehicles speeding by, people walking back and forth in Boston terminal, boats streaming merrily on thier way, heavy cloud cover, a big city right on your doorstep, and your Fenix airplane sucking up the frames like a crazed teenager scarfing coke and pizza.......

I need every compensatory frame I can get, and I'm very hapy with my 40-series card.

Great that the AMD crowd can join the party!
